How would I know if...
Hey, I don't usually post in this forum, but someone made reference to it in the Ontario forum, so I thought I'd pop by. I'm not even sure if anyone hear can answer my questions, or if this is the place to be posting these questions; so if I shouldn't ask these questions or voice these concerns here, please forgive me, and maybe you could suggest where I could go.
Anyway, I had my RNY on Aug. 12/08, and to-date I've lost 119 lbs. from my heaviest weight, and 90 lbs. from my surgery weight (coming up on 8 months post-op). I am so happy with my results so far, and my confidence is through the roof. I've gone from a size 24/26 to a 12/14 now, and I am finally able to shop in regular stores! I now weigh less than my 3 brothers & my Dad, and this is a first for me. Everyone that knows of my choice to have WLS has been really supportive, and they're all so proud of me too. I try to track my calories, fat grams, fibre grams, sugar grams, and protein grams daily, I take my multi-vitamin & calcium supplement daily too. I do struggle with getting enough water intake, and I definitely need to exercise more, but all-in-all I feel as though I've done well!
So my question is this... I feel that I am eating way too much for someone that's only 8 months post-op; why is it that I can still eat so much? Was my pouch made too big? Have I already stretched my pouch? Sometimes I drink too soon after my meal, and could this have ruined my pouch? I probably sound like a huge worrier, and that is me, but I am seriously concerned that if I don't figure out why I am eating so much, that I could be at a very great risk for regain!?!?
H-E-L-P?!?!?

Hi,
Congratulations on your great success!!
I too can eat alot of some things like salads, soups, veggies which are all water based. I suggest you eat slower, enjoy each bite, chew well and savor the experience. Then, if you feel you need more support as to food choices or you feel there are triggers that cause you to make wrong choices and can't figure out why, seek some counsel. We bring alot of baggage into our journey and more support is sometimes needed.
Keep us posted!

Hhhmmm, well here is a list of some of things I'd eat (each ~ is 1 meal or 1 sitting)...
~ a pretty large salad with cheese, some form of protein (bacon bits, chicken, chick peas, steak, hard boiled egg, etc.), croutons, dressing, sunflower seeds, etc.
~ a 1/4 of a watermelon
~ a full can of Campbell's Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder Soup
~ 1 cup of sugar-free pudding with Lite Cool Whip on it
~ 1 cup of sugar-free jello with Lite Cool Whip on it
~ about 36-40 multi-grain tortilla chips with dip
~ 1 & 1/2 Weigh****chers Whole Wheat Bagel with peanut butter & sugar-free grape jam
~ 1 small bag of SunChips
~ about 4-6 sugar-free cookies
~ 1 baked potatoe with cheese, bacon bits, fat-free sour cream & Becel Butter Spray
~ 1 entire frozen entree
~ a Happy Meal at McDonald's (bun top removed & no pop though)
Does that seem like I'm eating too much???

Sara, I can eat all that too... water based, and slider foods... these go down SOOO easy, and do not fill ya up! That is pretty normal!

Hey Erin, thanks! You know me, I'm a worrier by nature, and sometimes I just feel like I'm eating way way too much, and I must've stretched my poor pouch already?! I do realize tha****ermelon practically disolves in your mouth, but it still scares me. Anyway, I am looking forward to trying The 5 Day Pouch Test with everyone starting on Monday. Talk to ya later...
