Scared.....

I had lost 111# in 13 months.  Fast loss really but I really did what I should do.  My family says I got too thin.  Mentally, I guess I enjoyed wearing a 1-2.  Now I'm in a 3-4 but have gained almost 20 # in 4 months.  I have been on Humira for my rheumatoid arthritis and feel it has contributed to the weight gain but my rheumatologist says no.  I'm afraid that the weight will keep coming on and I'll be back to square one.

Does anyone know if they will place a lap band post RNY gastric bypass if you are not obese and your weight starts climbing?

Thanks,

Hi,

My journey is similar.  I got down to a 2-4 and now  I am an 8-10.  I have to admit, I have more energy and don't look as gaunt.  I seriously doubt if anyone would do what you want.  I wouldn't worry too much at this point.  Just enjoy your new look and keep doing the right things.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Hi,

Yes, there is such a thing . . . It is considered a revision surgery and would be a band over bypass.  You might have problems getting approved for a band with your RA though since it's considered an autoimmune disease.

There might be other options for you as well.  If your stomach pouch has stretched back out, you might be able to have a surgeon do a simple revison to resize your stomach again.

The downside is that revision surgeries are very expensive and insurance will usually NOT cover a revision.

Can you try to wean yourself off of the Humira and see if it is in fact the culprit?  I have Lupus and when I have flares and have to take certain medications I seem to eat more and make bad food choices.

I hope this turn around for you.

I would consider dietary changes or changes in exercise.  You are a size 3-4 not a 20.  I can't imagine that any reputable physician would do surgery on someone your size.
