Hey Everyone, First of all I cannot believe that I am writing this, I feel like a complete failure at my WLS. I had WLS Nov 27th 2006 and I weighed 350, I got down to only 227 and then got back up to 240....I am so afraid of gaining my weight back. This week I started back on my protein shakes and trying to get as much protein in as I can. I have not cheated even once...I got down to 233 and this morning back up to 236...go figure, I cannot understand that....but I am NOT giving up cause I know I CAN DO IT!! I even started riding my stationary bike again, and doing my exercises. You see I started out so good and went to the YMCA everyday and did the Fitlinxx machines and water aerobics 3 times a week and then my 86 year old Mom got really sick and diagnosed with Alzheimers and I cannot leave her alone unless my Brother comes and sets... So there goes my exercise, but I want to start back next week on the FITLINXX machines cause I think maybe I can leave early in the mornign and do it while she is alseep....
Anyway has anyones else had a complete weight loss stall for a year and is it possible to lose the rest of my 80 pounds to my goal...or am I a lost cause. I just want to know have I screwed up? Has the surgery stopped working for me.... will I need a revision like evryone is talking about. PLEASE PLEASE I NEED HELP AND DON'T KNOW  WHAT TO DO ANYMORE......I FEEL WONDERFUL AND I HAVE COME A LONG WAY, AND DON'T WANT TO GO BACK.....
(((((( I WON'T GO BACK ))))))) BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE A SIZE 18,,,I WANT TO BE A SIZE 10 AT LEAST A 12.....THANKS EVERYONE HUGS REBA

I am so sorry I know how how you feel, but as for myself I don't feel like WLS has failed me, I feel I have failed WLS..... If I had the ability to go to the support meetings and doctors check-ups and do what I was suppose to do, I think I could have been down a lot lower than 227 in the time that I was at that weight. Maybe if you got back on track with your protein shakes and exercise. But even from 235 to 178 that is a 60 pound weight loss and that is very good...you should be very proud of yourself to have lost even that much....I am very proud of myself for losing like 120 pounds but I just want to go lower...I WANT TO BE A SIZE 10 OR EVEN A 12.....HEY I WOULD SETTLE FOR A 14.....JUST TO GET TO WONDERLAND IS MY GOAL AND I WOULD BE SO HAPPY.....RIGHT NOW IF I LOSE 37 POUNDS I WOULD BE IN ONDERLAND....AND BELIEVE ME I WOULD BE THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD.....If i can help please let me know and I know you can do it,...just like I know that  can do it.....HUGS REBA

I had RNY April 2006, lost 125 pound the first year.  I hadn't quite made it down to 200lbs.  I injured my knee while working out.  The doc put me in Physical therapy for 8 weeks...no other exercise.  Just maintained my weight.  I returned to light exercising, but just couldn't drop the weight like I was prior.  I would drop 5 gain 3.  Drop 3 gain 1.   Six months later I reinjured, and had to have surgery.  Since my knee surgery last April, I have gained almost 40 pounds.  Now, I know part of this is my fault, with eating habits and nutrition, but I too feel like my tool is broken.  I have been reading about sclerotherapy and how it can help with weightloss.  This is a procedure where the doc creates scar tissue at the Stoma to tighten your pouch back up.  I have an appointment to see a new Bariatric Surgeon to talk about this procedure and if it will help me.  In the meantime, if you haven't heard of the 5 day Pouch test, try this website www.livingafterwls.com very informative.  The 5day has worked well for me, but not producing the results long term I would like.

I know exactly how you feel.  I never thought I would be in this position.  I was a dedicated and determined to this lifestyle.  This injury has completely altered my path, and I am desperate to get that back.  I feel horrible, fat, and unhealthy.

Reba, I feel your pain. I had RNY on April 5,2005. I had lots of complications but managed to lose 148 lbs. My lowest weight was 220 lbs.  Three months after my surgery my husband was dianogned with throat cancer.  He had radiation and got it back in November 2007. This time he did radiation and chemo. He had lots of complications and I started eating to get him to eat. He got thru but was dianognosed again in May of 2008. Chemo was his only option with only a 10 % chance. He started chemo and got a massive infection. At the Dr's advice he stopped all treatment and was put into Hospice care. He was 5'7" and weighted 118 lbs at the time. I took leave of absence and cared for him. I had started going to the gym but had to stop when his care became more intense. I watched him wither away to skin and bones while I was fighting my own disorder.  He passed away November 17,2008. I have since returned to work and promised myself I would get back on track. I am back up to 263 lbs. I am checking into a revision. I am so scared and confused. Like you I refuse to continue to gain. I just can't return to where I came from. I am looking into doing a nutrien class. It is 8 weeks and covers exercise and emotional aspects too.  I have to document 6 months of weight management, exercise and nutrien and get a phycologial clearence before a revision will even be concidered with my insurance company. I did 3 months before my husband got real ill. So I have 3 months to go. Right now I am very confused but I know I have to start somewhere. Best of luck to you and please remember you are not alone in this journey. You are not a lost cause, I would start with seeing my surgeon. My original surgeon retired so I am seeing a new one. See you lighter. Joanne

Reba,

Do an internet search for "The Pouch Rules" these may be helpful to you. You can also try exercising at home, you can get various DVD's or VHS tapes with all kinds of exercises that can be done in the comfort of your home, even cable TV has exercise stations on demand.

If you think you can or you think you can't, you are right! Keep trying and don't ever give up Hope.

Have Faith and Believe. Jesus loves you, is always with you and will never forsake you. He will help you through whatever comes your way.

God Bless you and yours.

Hello everyone;

It sounds like the story of my life, I'm 2 1/2 years post op, changed insurance and my Dr. who did the surgery doesn't take my insurance, and my new one, no one wants to see me to follow up cause I didn't have the surgery done by them, its CATCH 22.

I've been stuck at the same weight for the last 8 months, going up and down, YO-YO all over again, I'm so hungry all the time, and I can really put away the food, something happened to my pouch cause I can eat a large burger, fries, and a shake to go with it.

I'm back on LOW CARBS, and it has been 5 weeks and only managed to loose 9 pounds, and this past weekend I slipped a little and gained like four pounds back, I'm desperate please SOMEBODY HELP!!!!
