Can anyone help me I feel like a lost cause?!
I had surgery in 2002 and lost over 130lbs. Then i got pregnant during that 18mos. period completely caught off guard. Well it is 2009 and i am just 50lbs. away from being where i started and i do not know where to begin and i am hoping someone out there has been there or is going through the same thing can help me and work with me. i think i am making the first step because i want the change back. i hope there is someone out there.
Hi Robbin,
I just read your note and am wondering if you have checked into the StomaphyX? I just learned abt. it tonight, actually, but it sounds like it might be a good thing to consider.
I am actually in the process of having Weight Loss Surgery and it sounds encouraging that there is something out there now that can help if one begins regaining the weight. Maybe you can check with your doctor and see what you can do at this point and if this is something that may work for you.
I know it is discouraging for you to have regained the weight, but there is lots of hope. I do hope this is something that will help.
Feel free to write any time. I'd love to know how things go for you.
Wishing the best for you. My prayers are for you.
Sincerely--Deborah Allen in Virginia

Hi Robbin,
I do hope you find this helpful. If you think abt. it, please keep me posted as to how things go for you.
I'm excited abt. beginning my WLS journey and hope to be thin for basically the first time in the 56 yrs. I've been on this earth, except for maybe the first 8 or 9 yrs. of my life and maybe when I was in 8th grade or so, when I was doing good to eat one meal a day. Although I was probably 120 lbs. people (not my parents, but others did) usually referred to me then as plump or said that I would 'never be thin'. Some people just don't give you a break, I guess, but it always affected the way I felt abt. myself so I felt like I just didn't have much of a chance. Guess I've always been the 'ugly duckling'. Well, that is going to change. I'm not going to be the misfit in the crowd any more. Hopefully a few months from now things will begin to change for me. I've tried so many ways of losing weight and to no avail. I may lose 30-40 lbs. or whatever and then I lose my momentum and cave in and slip right back into my old ways. I get stuck and can't seem to be able to lose any more and get tired of trying. Virtually everyone around me can eat whatever they want and as much as they want and stay thin so it's really hard to fight against that. I want to be 'normal'. I don't think that is too much to ask, and if possible I'd like to even be 'better than normal'.
Anyway, my prayers are for you to find the answer that is right for you and that you have great success.
A friend who cares,
Deborah

By the way, Robbin, I think it is wonderful that you have kept off 80 of the 130 you lost ! That is a great accomplishment. I know you'll find the answer for you and will get the weight back off. Definitely talk to your doctor. I'm sure he/she can help you in finding the best solution for you.
Take care.

Hi Robbin, first off, congrats on the 80lbs...that's a huge starting point from where you used to be and you've got a child to show for it so don't be so down on yourself. The extra cortisone that brings on doesn't help. I myself gained 25 back too in the last year, partly from infertility meds and partly from depressive attitude after a few deaths in my family and realizing I wasn't ever going to be able to have kids. Nuff said. Went to my WLS surgeon and he did a "limited upper GI" he called it to determine I had no breakdown of the surgery. Had there been one he would have repaired it. I'm leery of the Stomaphyx only in that if I can't make the 1st surgery work, how is that gonna help? What the test showed was a slightly stretched stoma which is normal for my 3years post-op. What it really told me was that I had to go back to eating how I did starting 6 weeks out from surgery. My guidelines were: 2gms of sugar or less, very low fat, low salt, carbs from veggies and fruits, no white powders. 78gm protein per day (I'm 5'6"), 11-46 carbs (no more than 11 per meal) and measure, measure, measure since I don't get "full" nor do I dump. It has to become a lifestyle (and it was there for a while) and I have to embrace the word "NO" when someone offers me stuff I shouldn't eat. It seems to help me get started to use Profect for 3 or 4 days 2X a day and just a little meat/salad something for ruffage. By day 4 I have no appetite and feel my pouch again. I'm a work in progress and it's not easy but the further along you stick with it those old feelings of being a success come back.

Hi,
I'm sorry you are going through this. You don't give alot of detail but the normal questions would be what has changed in your eating and exercise routine. Are you able to continue to eat healthy and at least walk for exercise? Life can throw us a loop and we find ourselves sidetracked some times. There is a good board called Back On Track Together that might encourage you. Give it a try.

Yup, I have noticed that with this new website, many are hiding how.
