Suddenly - No Restriciton

I have had my band for 2 years and lost 75 lbs. I am a size 10 but should probably lose another 10-15lbs. The last 2 fills I had were too restrictive, I couldn't even get liquids down so i had to have the band released a bit. I have been able to eat small portions prior to becoming full/uncomfortable. Just Friday night I was out and ate a few bites but didn'r chew enough and got uncomfortable. NOW, i realized I have been eating but feel like I could eat and eat. I drink liquids fast without discomfort (normally I can't drink a lot or quickly). I tested myself today and ate a sandwich. It's like overnight I lost all restriction.....

Does anyone know what is going on???? I am terrified my band is no longer going to work for me!!

Same thing happened to me last month.  I was checked for a leak (you should be too) and thankfully didn't have one.  The only other potential cause for loss of restriction, they said, was if whoever gave you your last fill was careless in withdrawing the needle - fluid can actually be allowed to come back out, unnoticed.  How long ago was your last adjustment?

Sounds like it's a simple fix with just a little more fill.  Take a yogurt smoothie with you when you get your fill so you'll know if your going to have problems.  As you lose weight you lose some of the little fat pad between your stomach and the band, that causes it to loosen up as well.  Your band will work for you, go see your doctor.

My daughter has the lap band. I have the RNY. I can tell you that she had the same problem as you and it was a leak in the port. Every fill was effective for a day and then no restriction at all! She had a new port installed last week and will get her fill tomorrow.
Have it checked. You never know.
Good luck.
