Sclerotherapy

Has anyone ever heard of it or know anything about it?  Trying to research and can't find much information.  I understand it's a procedure where a doctor goes in with an endoscope and injects something at the stoma site to create scar tissue which makes the stoma smaller.
Thanks,
Debbie

If you have a stoma enlargement you will probably have the best shot with a lap band over your stoma.  Daisy

Have you had WLS surgery?  I'm not sure why you would want to create scar tissue in the stomach.  But I guess because I have stomach inflammation problems.

I haven't heard much about it but is that an alternative to surgery or some type of revision?

I had the VSG in Nov 2008.

I used to work at a varicose vein clinic.  They did sclerotherapy on varicose veins in the legs.  I have never heard of it used in this setting.
Good luck,

A drug called sodium morrhuate is injected around the stoma, which is supposed to make it scar an close up somewhat.  I had this procedure on April 3.  I do feel like I have restriction again.  25 lbs lost in the last 6 weeks.  There don't seem to be a lot of long-term studies showing whether or not the results are lasting.

It is not typically effective long term and usually requires more than one treatment.

Jennifer.

I had this injection last month and it didn't seem to do anything for me, I'm doing it again Friday..can you please tell me what kind of diet you did after this.  Where you on liquids for a week just like the bariatric surgery!

Please let me know because there are not alot of people who have done this and I'm just upset that I actually gained some pounds instead of lose!

my personal email is [email protected]

thanks so much

I'm scheduled to have a 2nd treatment in June.  I hope that I am one of the lucky ones for whom this works.  From what I've heard, ROSE and Stomaphyx often fail as well and I don't want to have revision surgery.
