Hi there... I am looking for a forum to touch base with people who have had their RNY and seem to have failed or stalled. I lost 100lbs in 5 months and have maintained that for 6months and cannot seem to lose a single pound. I have crohn's and colitis as well and regularly find myself in the "LOO" 8 to 10 to as much as 20 BM's a day... could this be some of the problem for the stalled weight loss??? Also, I am exhausted all the time from the drugs I am on and I find exercise a MAJOR issue??

help... lori

Have you spoke with your surgeon and nut about your issues? I have heard of people having those issues if something was wrong, and needed to be adjusted, or even surgery revision. I'm more concerned about the bathroom issues than the stall, as that just seems a hard way to live.

Your doc needs to make sure you don't have a c-diff problem in your gut, or other imbalance, and you may need an antibiotic or even just probiotics. The stoma could be too big and just dumping the food right into the intestines (that is apparently a common issue with failing RNY's).

There are so many things it could be, but only a doctor can test you and see what the problem is. You need to insist your doc keep looking for the problems until they can help you. Good luck.

I hate the word "failed" !  But I have contacted my surgeon today i reference to my weight loss.  I am over 9 months and still have only lost 56 lbs.

I hope he will just check things out for me!

Hi Sondra, I hate the word "failed", too.  May OH will change that one day... I love your resolve to seek answers.

If you haven't already, consider joining Cathy Wilson's group Back on Track Together or my OH group - Beat Weight Regain with ROSE.  There may be more information and support for you there?

It's hard and you can do it,

How do you join your group? I am almost 3 years out and never reached my goal weight. I am so frustrated,

I am in the midst of a MAJOR stall.  Lost 40 lb in the first 2 months, 10 lb the 3rd month and only about 1 lb a month since February.  It's interesting that you were able to have the surgery done at all considering Crohn's patients usually are very thin, and definitely have malabsorption issues without RNY.
