sclerotherapy
Hi everyone. I am new to this board so........ I am scheduled to have endoscopic sclerotherapy in a few weeks to tighten the opening into the small intestine. I had my original surgery[open RNY] in 2002.Now I've gained back enough weight that I need some help. The Dr. feels this is the first option. I would love any input that you might have. Thanks so much!

Peggy...I also had my RNY in 2002. I lost 200 lbs and have gained back 50. I had a hysterectomy last year and gained 25 and had already gained 25 through the 6 years.
I went and had a upper GI and was told my stoma is stretched. Saw a local surgeon here who says sclerotherapy does not work. I am desperate. Can you tell me how yours has worked.
This Dr. was very mean and said I just needed to accept the fact that I had to control my appetite and not look for a surgical fix. If I could do that, I would not have needed the surgery in the first place.

Hi Diane, Ive been away for a few weeks so only now am I responding to your message. I did not have the sclerotherapy procedure I was scheduled to have due to family crisis which left me rather emotionally depleted. My internist felt that I needed to wait until I was stronger. I do know of a friend on here that had the procedure on he same day I was scheduled and her name is Ruth Santos. You might e-mail her and see what she thinks!I'm definately going to research this a bit more before doing it as I don't want this to be just an intermediate procedure that will ultimately lead to more. I really believe you should seek out a more compassionate Dr. If we
could control these eating desires, we would not have needed anything as drastic as surgery in the first place. This really is some journey isn't it???? Write back soon!!
