Hi, I have failed two times. Well, sorta. I had the lap band and went from 375 to 275. Band slipped. Gained back to 321. RNY surgery and band removed  lost down to 250 and then I started going back up. No dumping. could eat everything. Then I went back up to 277.
I am now on South Beach and it is great. Plus it is all the things we should be eating anyway. I am now two weeks into South Beach and I believe it is a life style of eating healthy I can live with from now on.
The most I have ever dieted in my life was about a week before . Always hunger did me in.
Please give south beach a try if you feel like a failure.

Hi Ellen,  I am sorry to hear about the two attempts with WLS.  I had RNY done in 2002 and lost 95lbs.  I should have lost about 175lbs except I had a tragedy in my family and stopped trying.  I did keep off the 95lbs until recently and have gone up 40lbs.  So discouraging!  I am on a journey to get revision so wish me luck.  I'm responding to your post because I want to see if I can loose 10lbs on my own by 12/19 when I have a Drs consult.
What can you tell me about the SB diet that is working so well for you?  I have never seen it.
Good luck to you and will look forward to hearing from you.

Hi

The SB diet is great I lost 11 lbs in 7 days, but it is VERY important to drink your water. There is also a new procedure called Stomaphyx this is for people that had RNY,Gastric Bypass,DS and began to regain their weight this is done through the month.

Hi Ellen, thank you for this post
I had my surgery in March of 2006 and have been stuck between 210-218 for the past 2 1/2 years.  I was looking into the South Beach Diet but was hesitant.  I'm going to start on Monday and hopfully see some results.
Did you get the results like expected in the first 2 weeks(in Phase I?)

Just thought I would jump in here.  The South Beach Diet is the only Diet that I had fast results with pre WLS well that and Weigh****chers when I was quite young many moons ago.  With SouthBeach only a few years ago I lost 60+ lbs. in 6 mos.  I thing SB diet along with RNY is the perfect combo.  A truely healthful way of eating and a surgery that will help you to feel satisfied while following the diet rules.  My best to you.  I am focusing back on SB too and I am only a bit past 7 mos. out.  SB rocks.  Love their products too.  Gina  : )

I also had very good results with South Beach, but after 4 months and 30 lb my medications were changed and I regained all the weight I'd lost despite continuing on the plan. I had WLS (RNY) in November and my weight loss is slower than I had hoped.  With South Beach I was never hungry and looked forward to not feeling hunger as well after my surgery.  Unfortunately I don't feel any different than I did pre-operatively;  I just have to eat smaller amounts.
