Hello Everyone....  I am considering a revision to RNY.  I  had the lapband june 17, 2006 and to date i am down only 15 pounds... from 275 to 260.. my lowest was 238 and that was mostly because i was in the gym 7 days a week for an hour and a half and i was not eating alot because i was stressed from planning my wedding... ( I did look FABULOUS )!   But I paid cash for this band... has NEVER felt RESTRICTION.. and I seem like i am running in place !! I am in the same place I was 2 years ago and thought that I would be better off by now!   HELP!!  Money is not an issue.  I am anxious to get this done... so I guess my question is..... How can I get this done in the shortest amount of time?  Does anyone know of any doctors in Mexico that do my type of revision??  What about anywhere in the US without a long wait??  PLEASE help OH'ers!!!

I passed on both the band and the RNY that would have been paid for by insurance, and self paid out of the country for a DS. If you aren't familiar with it, please come over to the DS board and ask any questions, we'd be happy to answer. Surgery is risky and expensive, so you owe it to yourself to know all the facts on all the surgeries and make the best choice. I'm sorry the band hasn't worked for you, after struggling with weight issues for years the last thing any of us needs is another weight loss failure. I hope you find a good surgery fit and lose down to a happy weight for you.

I am a revision from a gastroplasty done in the early 80's.  I had the DS and could not be happier.  I just wish I had had it in the 80's and would have have a better life for the last 25 years!

Please check out the DS and make an informed decision about what surgery is best for you. I woud hate for you to have a second revision.  I can eat anything and everything and still not gain weight.  This still amazes me!

With any surgery you can have complications and I was one who did, however I would do the same thing all over again in a heartbeat!

Come check the DS board and ask all the questions you want.

I am also considering a revision to RNY.  I had the lap band placed in feb 2005 and have had no luck with it.  I am actually heavier now than i was when i got it.  i find that I can't eat fresh veggies and i can't eat meat ...it makes me throw up. from time to time, i notice that my port is actually sore.  does that happen to you????   I also paid cash for the band in mexico.  the doctor and staff was great...dr. aceves.  good luck.

AFter struggling just making up my mind and being terrified of surgery....for over a year now...and knowing IMMEDIATELy that I did not want the lap...I felt the thing as I listened to the doctor at the seminar and just knew it was not for me...then I studied RNY and have 3 friends who lost bigtime with it...but ALL three of them are now working at getting revisions to DS.....and the more and more I research it (now of those 3 friends bothered to check anything else out BUT lap and gastric at the time of their WLS) The more it makes sense to me...if I am going to have surgery...why not start with the one most people end up turning to as their last resort?  Hey....you really need to explore all the options you have. Paula

i too had a failed band.  I had the most miserable 1.5 years of my life with that band.  I had reflux, went months without being able to eat solid foods, etc.  I also paid cash for my surgery and was paying for every fill.  I was also thinking of getting RNY but when I went to the revision board I read of so many people that had failed RNYs.  I already had 1 failed surgery and didn't want another.  So I researched the DS and that was the surgery for me.  I had my revision a year ago and my only regret is not getting the DS as my first surgery.

I had the lapband and revised to the DS almost 1 year ago.  It was the BEST decision I ever made.  As you can see on my signature I got pregnant early post op but I am still doing great and still losing weight.  Baby is growing great and my life has changed so much for the better.  Don't give up and do your homework.  Let me know if you have questions.  GOOD LUCK!

Hello to All. I'm also considering a revision. I had the RNY done May 30, 2003  at 230lbs. Manage to keep the weight off for about two years at around 140lbs. But notice that the weight was creeping up around late 2005 to early 2006. Now I'm back in the 200 lbs mark and very disappointed with myself. Wondering if I done something wrong. My Doctor who preformed the surgery said that it's impossible for me to stretch my pouch.  Thinking about an second option and go with the Lap-band but after reading others who have had the DS, wonder if my Health Insurance would cover this procedure.
