Hey guys. I had the gastric bypass performed in March of 2006. I am two years out and I have lost 97 pounds. I started out at 323. I have tried drinking water and taking my pills and walking. I have not lost anymore weight. I have thought about having a revision. Has anyone had one? Has everyone lost all their weight? My doctor said that he expected me to be @ 160 but I am stuck @ 233.Don't know what to to do.

You should head over the DS board. There are quite a few people that have had the revision from RNY to DS and are quite happy about it. They also know which surgeon's have the best track record for performing the revisions as it's a riskier surgery than the original. Good Luck in whatever you decide to do Tammy

Shawn  I had a revision from lap Rny  to an extended common channel - what that means is my surgeon went in and redid my plumbing only ,, the new connection leaves me with 75 cm of common channel  to absorb my food, calories and nutrients.. Surgery was May 7th and I dropped 20  very quickly !!! I have about 100-120  to loose yet ... Revision pts loose slower !!!  You might want to check out revision board also look up Dr Eric Schlesinger and read his posts - he is our local  revision surgeon and has some posts that explain it very well! Good Luck with your Decission !! p.s.  - yes my Ins did cover my revision -  call and see what your coverage is

what about getting a LAP band over your GB? I think that your BMI is high enough that insurance will cover it. BTW, I think your surgeon is way off thinking you'd go from 323 to 160lbs. That's a very aggressive weight loss.
