Help...Getting ready to go CRAZY

Hello

I don't mean to sound "Crazy" but is there a such thing as making your pouch smaller. I have always though that my pouch was Too Big. My doctor has told me that she thinks I'm fine and it's all in my head. I believe that if my pouch was smaller I would have lost more weight. The morning of my surgery I weighed 288.........I was able to get down to 165(last summer), but then gained some weight back after my Crazy A** surgeon suggested that I needed to eat more FOOD, and include more foods(carbs) in my diet.

I personally would like to see another surgeon to get another Professional opinion, and see if I quailfy for a DS. My surgeon has moved from Washington Surgical Group to Georgetown Hospital and is now specializing in "General Surgery."  When she was with Washington Surgical Group she specialized in WLS...RNY was the only WLS that she preformed, and suggested that I have RNY because she thought it was best for me. I was told by my Surgeon that with DS I would probably become under weight.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do. I'm 5'4 and would still be considered "OVER WEIGHT"

I walk 2miles a day on my treadmill or outside if the weather permits. And I just don't know what else to do.

 "Nen du bere ak doj!"

Steph, I suggest the 5 day pouch test to see if you can reset your pouch where you "feel" the full feeling we felt as newbies.  Here is the link:  www.5daypouchtest.com.  I've done it twice with much success and took of the 9 lb regain I had in less than 2 months.  The program is meant to reset the pouch feeling but many are also seeing weight loss with it. You might want to post on the WLS Grad board too, the group is fabulous and will help and support you. Good luck!

I would suggest getting a metabolism test and a good nutritionist. Find out how much you body really needs and bring it to a NUT to design an eating plan for you.  Its not always about the pouch size and the amount we can eat but what we are putting into the pouch. Do you measure your meals out - how much meal volume are you eating?? There is something called the cottage cheese test (unscientific but gives an idea I guess) to help measure out pouch size. I know personally I feel I eat a lot but when I food log I really dont eat all that much - I have to force myself to eat the minimum each day that I need.  Keep in mind with WLS surgeries you are considered a success if you lose 60% of your excess weight - while you may still be considered overweight you still may be down a good amount of weight. You lost 123lbs, there is a 'typical' bounce back of 10%.. you didnt state how much you regained but you could still be considered a success by the standard? Since you are considering seeking out DS at your current weight are you obese? How much weight do you need to lose to be a normal BMI? Would you currently qualify for WLS surgeries?

Steph, Have you considered that new procedure called the stomaphx?  You can find alot of info about this procedure on the revision forum.  It is FDA approved and the surgical procedure is done endoscopically.  Because, it is so new insurance is not paying for it yet.  Hope this helps.

My surgon just asked me to go back to eating 3 - 3 oz meals a day.  I was up to 5 oz and still loosing weight but not as quickly.  I am starting it this week:)  She said I will drop another 100 lbs in the next 6 weeks if I go back to 3 oz meals and eat only veggies, fruit and meat.  Maybe you could try it?  I lost 175 lbs in the first 6 months.  60 lbs of that 175 was in the last 2 and a half months.
