There was nothing mentioned about coffee or crystal light - I do limit caffeine and count the crystal lite as daily fluid intake.

Hi M, I really liked your upbeat advice! Thanks!  Hey listen, I was a self pay who ended up in Mexico,(yes, I am a wildwoman...ha)  So I don't get the follow up care like others do.... I have a question,  why in the world does it matter if you drink while you eat?  That is repeated so much, like it's 'Gospel'.  My goodness I must be a big sinner, as I do drink and eat together, and yes, I am a very slooooooooooow loser.  Do you think I've messed myself up?  Duh....? Sorry to sound so uneducated...ha.

All say do not drink when you eat because it is important to get in your protein first to maximize absorption. Drink can also push food through your system faster without getting the nutrients. COmes down to not filling your pouch before you get nutrition and not rushing food through your system to get the most benefit for your body. I am a slow loser too, by the way, but happy that I am not getting as much saggy skin. I feel fine, that's what is important to me - not a number of pounds. I did this to feel better, and I do! Good luck in your journey! Melonie

Hi M, Thanks for your kind reply. I had a different kind of WLS, so the malabsorbtion is not part of it.  However what you say makes total sense.  I also wonder if drinking while eating can distend the tummy and lead to other problems.  I have to admit I feel so much better just losing the 21 pounds, but on the VSG board, it can be disheartening when I read that people after me, have lost at least double that with the same starting BMI.  That is why I starting coming over to this board as a safe place to be.   I eat literally a fraction of my preop days, and I can't believe this is happening after going thru this process.   But absolutley YES, I do feel so much better.  I guess it will take me way way longer to get to goal than almost everyone else.   Ouch, I just realized something,  I must on some level feel a failure as I have seen some people on Weigh****chers do better than I have.....ewwww.   Anyhow, thanks for listening.  You are a sweetie!

Hello there!!  Don't feel like a failure! You are a lightweight when it comes to losing weight. Meaning you had less than 100lbs to lose.  The less you have to lose, the slower it is to come off.  Also I wouldn't drink with meals if I were you, this would take up space needed for your protein, veggies and fruit.  Hang in there, you are doing good because you HAVE lost weight and it's NOT going to come back!! woohoo!!

Hey G! Imagine me meeting up with you over here, away from the VSG board.  Oh, you caught me red-handed! Ha... Anyway, thanks for the kind loving concern and words.  I am soo happy that I had my surgery, as I am finally freed from my food obsessions and can now just live life.   I do get some sadness over losing soooooo slowly.  But you are right, I need to realize the scale is going one way  DOWN, which is my favorite thing.  And yes at least I know it is permanent loss as long as I don't abuse my tool. Thanks again dear one!  Hugs to YOU!
