RNY to Lapband

Has anyone actually had the RNY revised to add the Lapband? My surgeon is suggesting this for me. My original surgery was done 10/05. I lost close to 100 lbs and have since gained back about 25 lbs. Everyone says it's not much but when you go through all this to get it off, you want to keep it off. Not only that, but you can feel the changes in your body as you are gaining it back. It's no fun. I just wanted to know how things are going for anyone who has had this done and how did you get over the insurance hurdle? Thanks. Shana

Shana, I'm looking into this as well. I had RNY  on 12/2004 i started at 235lbs and got down to 170lbs not i'm back up to 200lbs I'm really scared and feel like such a loser as in failure. I don't know what to do, my old eating habits have returned. I wonder if my harmones pills that i take since i've had a total hysterectomy is preventing weight loss because I constantly want to eat_ any one has this problem? Also, my b12 liguid sinbinligual that i put under my tongue for 30 seconds I wonder if it causes increase appetite as well_ anyone with this problem?  I'm open to ideas: I've started to regain due to the snacking and constant eating as like in every hour. I crave junk food not regular meal food where as before the surgery i was the opposite. I know the junk food and sweets are carbs which i'm thinking is going thru my system faster because when i eat regular food i can't because i get full quick or it takes me to long to chew the meat. So usually i get what's quick and easy especially since I work from home. NO contact with the outside has increased my depression and anxiety. I feel tired all the time, i think because of the bread,carbs...etc...Help any support group in wylie tx area?

It's the abbreviation for Roux-en-y. (Or commonly known as gastric bypass.)

I know there are some people on the band board that have previously had the RNY - Check it out and post your question there!  I'm sure someone will be able to help!

I went to my consult Monday and I was told by the nurse that a RNY can not be reversed.  Why did she tell me that information?  She said that the other type of RNY can be revised but that not many places do those types of RNY anymore.

Also, I wanted to know where you got that picture of your body now, after, and goal?

thanks Dawn

I got the ladies off of www.mvm.com  As far as I know the RNY is not reversable but the Lap-Band is (if it needed to be)

I'm looking into the same proceedure myself. It was suggested to me once. I have a consultation tomorrow to discuss the possibility. I had my RNY in 2000 and lost 178lbs. I was 412lbs. Now i'm 288 up from 234. I use to weigh 305. but have managed to hover around this weight lately. but i know when i'm back in the 300's. I guess you have to have the same criteria as before insurance wise. BMI high, co-morbidities, etc. all you can do is make appointments and try to see what happends. I'll let you know how things go with me. I'm thinking positive. Since I'm going to a different surgeon than my original.
