Hi all, In 1986 I had my stomach "stapled". Only lost 40 lbs and gained it back plus some. Now, 20 years later I want to try banding. Surgeon said he would consider me but I needed an upper GI and and EGD to evaluate my stomach after the surgery. Had the upper GI--nothing showed up--nice plump stomach!! Had the EGS--Dr. drew a diagram of what he saw so it's a little hard to explain in words. There was one "staple" left forming a sort of pouch. No restriction--food went straight on through to all of my stomach. There were also two holes in the bottom of what was left of the "pouch" causing even more food to be emptied into my stomach. I know I have to wait for the reports and check with my surgeon but does anyone know of people in my situation? I soooo want to have the banding but am afraid my past surgery will stop it. Any post-good or bad will be appreciated. God Bless, Robin

Robin, I know a guy who did have the band after the old stomach stapling..he did great!! and it is unfortunately very common that the staple line came open with the old surgery, its such a better procedure today.. good luck!! Brenda

Hi Robin Just read your post and if your still wanting feedback - email me. I had my stomach stapled in 1987 and went from 261 down to 113 over 18 to 24 months. Over the years struggled to keep it off and during my pregnancy complications almost 11 yrs. ago gained back alot. Fast forward to April 2006 weighing 251 and had ladband surgery. I too had to get the tests you were sent for but my surgeon banded me and I have gotten down to 202lbs as of now. I'm impatient to lose quicker but try to be patient. I want to get down to 140 and take it from there. You posted awhile back so how are you doing now? Donna A
