I had My RNY surgery Feb. 28, 2006 I am a little over 3 months My beginning weight was 264.5 and I have only lost 42 lbs. I am frustrated because I cannot eat I vomit everything that go down my throat. 3 Months of this I should be a lot smaller????? I have consulted with my family physician who agrees with me? He did not agree with me having weight loss surgery but I had it and he agrees with me vomiting all the time I should be alot smaller. so He has sceduled me a appointment with a endocronologist to see about metobolism. I do have low thyroid and I am no longer taking my meds. because I have been on Synthroid, Armour Thyroid, and Levathroid and all of those with diffrent doses make me extremely tired and my hair comes out. I actually feel better of the medication. I was just wondering after all this having surgery if I am going to just lose 42lbs. and the funny thing is that before surgery I have irritable bowl syndrome and everything I ate came straight thru. now I do both vomit and diarreaha Before I didnt lose weight and now I am not losing much weight? Gee what is wrong with me???????

i am no doctor by far hun but i wonder if your body is in starvation mode? maybe because of all the puking and diarhea your body has gone into a mode of storing more fat than normal like when it is in starvation mode? just something you might run by your doc? hope you get to feeling better soon. it sure doesnt seem like a failure to me maybe just a pit stop of things to come and girl 42 pounds is an awesome weight loss....dont sell yourself or weigh loss short keep smiling it gets better rhonda

Thank you. I belive you are right. tho it is frustrating reading that others that can eat whom where at my size and height and had the surgery at the same time as I are losing so much more weight. I had actually mentioned to my Doc before and they say I am eating to much to quick. LOL I call trying to eat baked chicken and I mean it is only the size of a couple of hairs lol then vomiting it back out not being alot. My mother had the surgery the RNY 1 year earlier and she eats everything and is still losing weight uggggg.

I feel for you!! We are told over and over not to compare but it is so damm hard not to!! I have lost 42 pounds since surgery and I use to get really upset when I would read about others who have lost so much more. I swear I felt I would be the first person inthe history of WLS to fail!! But Im OK now, Im a slow loser, I do everything that I should be doing so I know it will come off, it will just take longer. I also lost 25 before surgery. I was so shocked at what the scale said at my consultation with the surgeon that I went on a diet the next day!! Sometimes I think I dont eat enough and that is why I dont lose. This throwing up stuff you are experiencing is not right!! Why did you contact your PCP and not your surgeon?? HE needs to see you ASAP! Good Luck and see the dr NOW

You should NOT be throwing up everything you eat. Have you been checked for a stricture of any sort? As for your weight, at your starting weight of 264, you are on the lighter end of things, and as such you can experience a lesser amount of weight loss compared to someone who started off at 350 pounds. Go by the percentage of your excess weight lost, and I think you will see that you have lost at the same rate as everyone else.

I am having the same problems. I keep thinking I am failing. I am 3 months next week and I have only lost 40 lbs. But my doctor told me not to compare with larger people. I started at 230 and I am now 190. It is just that I lost 30 in the first two weeks, then the next 8 weeks, only 10 more have come off. So I thought I was done. I too am throwing up a lot of food. Mostly, I just eat too much or too fast and it makes me sick. It is hard to adjust, but it is getting better. Percentage of weight lost and loose fitting clothes are much better than counting the numbers lost!

I read somewhere on here, on someones profile about the exact same thing. She was vomiting everything and not losing weight. She went to her surgeon and found that her pouch was entirely closed, so it wasn't emptying at all, and her body was in starvation mode so she wasn't losing. PLEASE have t his checked out, it could be your case as well. Oh, and btw as soon as it was fixed she started losing weight and feeling much better!
