Topic: RE: Isopure and Bubble Gut...
If you are using the Isopure Clear Zero Carb, be aware it contains sucralose! Sucralose gave me problems even before surgery. I'm still loving The Isopure anyway right now as lately I have low protein issues due to lack of appetite from non DS related inner ear disorder and can't bear the thick shakes right now. I am just dealing with it and hoping I will adjust and tolerate it better in the future.
Topic: RE: Curds and Whey?
I guess I over heated the water when trying out Bariatic Advantage Chicken Broth Meal Replacement and created a curdled mess. However the taste is a very pleasant surprise -now that I kicked up the seasoning just a notch. My question is, is this curdled protein still viable or should I quit chewing my curds and whey now?
Topic: RE: Three years!
Sorry I have been a slacker here! I am three years out today and still very happy with my results and have been maintaining my same weight and size for almost two years now. Any issues are mostly minor and so worth the trade, at least for me. Main things to put out here: Comorbidities GONE! Marriage intact. No "cross" addictions acquired. I owe y'all so much more info and will try to be more present and update more soon. Still tied up with helping other struggling family matters - completely unrelated to WLS -but, me, personally, I'm good!
Still love my evolving OH fam!
Best to all!

Topic: RE: Can you drink during meals with the DS?
It took me some time, but I am almost at my three year anniversary and I eat and drink like a normy while happily maintaining my size 6! You will have several months of "what did I do to myself?" but you will eventually come around.
Topic: RE: Happy Surgiversary To Me! 4 yrs plus pic!
Congratulations Renee! I don't visit OH very often anymore but I am so glad I checked in in time to see this fabulous pic of you. You have always been a a great inspiration to me. Thank you.
Topic: RE: alcohol after DS
Minimal effect on me. Never been a big drinker anyway, but when I do I might "get there" a tad faster and then I get over it faster, too. The biggest change for me is that I was sort of allergic to alcohol before DS, flushed, got hot, broke out in hives, etc. No longer happens. Must have by passed that part of me in the switch.
Topic: RE: I'm divorcing my husband
IKR? I'm in a panic if my larder is running low on eggs, cream and butter. Downside is my normie sister says it is getting too dangerous for her to hang with me anywhere around food.
Topic: RE: Did your hair stop getting greasy after losing weight?
My previously oily hair became dry immediately after surgery so it is about malabsorption, not about weight loss. I no longer need to wear deodorant, either. I don't know what to attribute that to!
Topic: RE: I'm a btwerp!
I attended a fundraiser at my grandson's school tonight and saw another grandma I had not seen in awhile. If I do say so myself, I felt that I was kinda rockin' my size 4 sparkly butt pocket jeans. The other grandma says, "look at you, you skinny little b" and at this moment she remembers where we are and that her little grandsons are standing right next to her and she finishes with "twerp!" I am so happy to be a btwerp! I love my DS!
Topic: RE: Lap vs Open DS.
Personally, I was just scared to death of big open incisions. (Which is why I am currently procrastinating scheduling the plastics my hubs is generously offering to pop for.) Scars themselves did not scare me - nothing could look much worse than the road map of stretch marks I already have. I was just a wuss.
Topic: RE: strange wow
Yes, interesting. A pleasant plus not previously discussed. We usually hear the opposite about our BO. Newbies, don't believe everything you hear/read about stinky DSers! (Falsehoods spread by haters and/or uninformed!) Some of us smell better!
Topic: RE: strange wow
Don't think so. I was still obese when I noticed I no longer needed it. It's like the always cold, thing. I woke up after surgery, actually 18 pounds heavier with fluid retention and all, and knew immediately that I would never again be too hot.
Topic: RE: strange wow
So much fo us "stinky" DSers! And it's another way to save some coin! I hope plastics on my arms are in my future - so I have that to look forward to.
Topic: RE: strange wow
I have never seen anyone else mention this. In my little more than two years post DS, I have no need whatsoever to use antiperspirant. I first realized I had no need when I would forget to reapply after swimming. Even if I do perspire a little, which is rare, it does not have any unpleasant odor. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Topic: RE: I'm TWO.
Happy re-birthday Becky! And thank you for your vigilance here on this board. Congratulations!
Topic: RE: Our local fancy grocery store has a deli with a sense of humor
Thanks for the grin - needed it today! Wish more workers would enjoy themselves this way!
Topic: RE: DS- The cure for the common hangover??
I am fortunate in that I do not believe I am suffering from any transfer addictions. But I do react differently to alcohol when I have an occasional drink. I used to have an allergic reaction (hives, etc.) to alcohol and that has gone away. I also do not get a hang over when one drink would produce one pre surgery.
Best wishes to those of you with addiction. I hope you can find the help you need.

Sue,
You are a good and kind person to so eloquently (and without rancor or condescension) provide the examples you are giving to this young lady. You like to pretend you are a cranky old soul, but I know you are not.
I hate that a lot of our past OH contributors have abandoned us for a facebook group. I will not participate in the facebook group because it is so scary simple for people to glean all your personal info on facebook.

Amazing, Kirmy! You are so good at paying forward with your frequent and hilarious posts and now these pictures!!! Feel good in your heart because you are undoubtedly leading many to share in our little miracle!
Topic: RE: Feeling stupid for feeling depressed...
I actually went through a period I would describe as mourning. I missed my old friend, food. Food was my "go to" for every occasion happy or sad, and in the early days following surgery, I literally could not go there anymore. I felt lost. At just over two years post op, I could now go there if I wanted to. The happy reality is I no longer need to. Hang in there. Better days are coming!
Topic: RE: One year Surgiversary (pics) (Sorry, LONG)
Congratulations Ruby. Your perseverance is admirable and it sure paid off. You look wonderful!
