While I agree with your that we learn more than most PCPs about WLS and the DS in particular, choice of PCP can make a substantial difference as some can be anti-WLS while others are quite supportive. Our PCP was pushing my wife for quite some time to look into WLS as with a 665ish BMI she seriously needed intervention, she knew that the default of the day RNY wasn't going to do it for her; once she learned about and researched the DS, that made a lot more sense, and the doc was supportive of that decision, though his knowledge of it was even more marginal than of the RNY. And he continued to be supportive through all the many post op years with ordering the labs, etc.(gee, none of my other WLS patients get this kind of post op support!)
I would agree with checking with Roslin, as if you can find a PCP that has other DS patients, that is another positive toward getting referrals to other DS knowledgeable specialists down the road (like endocrinologists or gastros.)

Wife's DS - 5/05 w Dr. Robert Rabkin VSG on 5/9/11 by Dr. John Rabkin
I just found this, and I'm so happy! Did it work out for you? I'm going to try it with my doctor my Ferritin is at 5.
Agreed, I'm a patient of Dr. Roslin and had WLS in 2014. He's extremely knowledgeable and his staff will help make Dr referrals.
On a side note, PCP's are completely worthless for advice on WLS and generally know less than you do about any given procedure.
Most PCPs will support you in your future health. Start calling PCPs who are accepting new patients, have an apt then take it from there.
best to you
If you have a specific question for me, PM me or I will not see it, as I don't check responses on the forums and don't have anything forwarded to my email.
Melissa, check with Dr. Roslin's office and see what PCPs they work with and you'll probably be able to find one that supports revisions. Roslin does DS and is in New York. The telephone number is 914-666-1200. Ask them what PCPs do they work with that are supportive of revisional surgery.
Good luck.
Hello,
Can anyone recommend a good PCP that supports revision surgery in NYC?
Thank you,
MR
I'm working on the last 20lbs and they are creeping off. But, I'm still determined. Looking into a second job is the route I'm going to have to take. Thank you for your understanding and support. I've got to get a smaller size in shapewear and keep on doing what I've been doing. You've given me HOPE! Thank you so much.
Has anyone been diagnosed or have knowledge of (especially treatment):
Hyperchloremia or Renal Tubular Acidosis?
Leftovers are awful. Have you looked at Sauceda in MX? Better prices than in the US and he has done a ton of patients after bariatric surgery.
If I was in your place, and I am, I would lose another 20lbs, invest in some good shape wear and then decide what looks the worst. Then I would decide what to fix first. Then I would go get a second job and save that money ONLY for plastics. Or work a lot of overtime and dedicate that money for plastics.
