I am going to say and admit, drinking my protein drink, add my caffeine and having chicken or protein in the morning has helped maintain my weight. Trust would love to lose 15lbs, it it helps. Now I am doing the protein in the morning, NOT carbs...of course chicken and my favor slim fast have carbs...but the focus is the high protein. Now i add my honey apple cider to my 16.9 oz water with lemon, Now that really cuts the appetitte. Bu****er, high protein cuts that lion in the stomach. Dont try to eat carbs before 10am, depending how early you wake up.

Who was your surgeon that did the wrong procedure?

i saw on bariatricfacts.org support talking about surgeon in Utah used patients non consent in his trial for single anastomoses duodenal switch non standard vsg. Salt lake regional hospital has no clue about his misconduct and blind trial he is still doing on non consent patients. Wonder where all those patients went, and how they are doing today.

More post op thoughts.

I've been getting creative at home for how I can get done the things I need to. Let's just say my legs are sore from squatting to do things rather than bending over.

I haven't taken any pain meds since coming home, just the acid pill and the biotin/probiotic, etc. that i was told to resume. Grateful for that. Four of my incisions are a little puffy in the middle. The two on the outside are bruising up some but aren't tender or painful.

Getting through the thicker protein shakes has been hard but I'm going to get at least 48 ounces of fluid total today. So rejoicing for that. Bit light headed right now so just...more sipping. Have also been walking laps around my living room.

I will say that the post op gas pains were the worst of it. I woke up two hours earlier than planned and asked the nurses to let me walk. After they supervised a lap, they turned me loose. I was walking every hour and the gas pains improved a little each time.

The first night, my guts turned back on. The active rumbling was a bit surprising! Not hungry, though. I was allowed to walk out during discharge after meeting the requirements. It was nice to come home.

All in all, surgery was super quick with no complications. My surgeon is great and came to see me. Probably the weirdest thing to me is that I remember leaving my pre op room to go to anesthesia, and vaguely remember arriving there but nothing after that. No putting the mask on or counting. Just skips from arriving to...hey, you're done! I kept trying to talk to some guy named Joseph in recovery. Poor guy.

Anyway, this is me two days post op. Woo!

Topic: Post Op

Morning everyone.,

I'm less than one day post op and everything is going swimmingly, comparatively. Surgery was 45 minutes or less. I don't even remember making it to anesthesia. Just remember waking up with it done.

The worst pain has been from the gas. Taking everyone's advice to heart, I've been walking a ton and am attached to my tiny cups for sipping. To go home, I have to sip 25 one ounce cups of water and protein starting at 5am.

Very little pain meds. I asked for one last night to sleep. I've had two 500mg Tylenol on top of it. Most of what I'm getting is anti nausea. Have a patch and have had it added to my iv and such.

Feels like I'm in good shape. Just wanted to share for those who asked for an update. Happy to answer questions if anyone has them. From my fancy hospital bed, cheers!

Thanks for replying.... I've settled on my DS... which it is cuz of the two connections, with a common channel of 200cm. So it's modified...I think that'll be best for my situation. It's sounds like you're doing great with the sadi...I was contemplating that surgury, but it wasn't covered by my insurance. My surgury is in September... so I'll be reporting back my journey. Thanks

Good luck and it's a great choice. I had it done in NY in 2014, and have kept all the weight off and I'm the most fit I've been in 30 years. It's one step at a time though over a few years.

This forum is almost exclusively people with the Hess DS, and although well intentioned, you'll hear a lot of hating on the Sadi DS by people who don't have any experience with it.

It's been around for about 15 years and I had it done 8 years ago. I had the exact same concerns about malabsorption, malnutrition and side effects. I also was concerned about keeping the weight off long term. The Sadi DS has been a gift from god for me, and my common channel is about 300cm. The longer cc does not mean less weight loss or malabsorption. That is a huge misperception. Sometime less is more, and sometimes more is less. I was a lightweight at about 300lbs pounds as a 6'1 male now in my early 60's. My weight hovers around 160lbs but fluctuates by about 5 pounds up and down. I eat about 3k calories a day with about 300 to 400 grams of carbs and 120 grams of protein. As long as I eat mostly healthy (still plenty of snacks) then things are good. My price for poor eating choices is gas or bloating.

You should use these forums for some insight and perspective but definitely do your own research and find a real wls expert who knows the sadi, hess, vsg etc, and then discuss what's really best for your situation.

Good luck!
