Phenteramine??
Question,
Phentermine is that Phen-phen?? I am currently doing the research on it. I am currently doing my supervised dieting and my PCP through out a few suggestions to me. She has asked, if while I am doing my supervision, I would like the aid of diet pills. She suggested the b-12 shots and also Phenteramine. Isn't that the Phen-Phen pill that was taken off of the market a few years ago?? She said it was my choice and I am currently doing the research on the product, but was looking for some input. Thanks.
Phenflouramine was pulled due to the reuptake of serotonin effects it had. It was uptaking too much in people causing leaky heart valves. Phentermine is a step away from amphetamines. There are several forms of Phentermine(Adipex, Ionamin, Fastin, Phentermine) These pills helped me the first time I used them and only needed to lose 20lbs. Every time after that I used them it was like I already knew what they were supposed to do and my brain just wanted food regardless. They stimulate your central nervous system and your blood pressure needs to be monitored while on them. The first few days taking it you may feel a little jittery and nervous(this does fade away). It is also an appetite suppressant. They do help but are not for long term use. Phentermine is not the med pulled from the market...keep doing your research. Only you can decide if you want the aid of a pill at this time.

Yeah, Phentermine is the phen part, as fenflouramine is the other. Phentermine is still on the market (and all over the internet) and is a mildly effective appetite supressant. I took it along with Xenical a couple of years ago to lose about 60 pounds. The thing with phen is, it stops working after about 90 days. It's also not clinically recommended for more than 90 days of use so I had a lot of trouble getting a doc to give me more than a 90 day supply. It's an ok drug if you can stand the side effects like racing heartbeat, dry mouth, sleeplessness. It's just a very short term solution, as most diet drugs unfortunately are. But it could be good as a prep before surgery and insurance approval. Good luck!!

I've taken it, it's still out there, although I got mine in a questionable manner i.e. internet pharmacy and had to pay full price.
I didn't do well with it, it may have been too weak for me, who knows.
I'm not sure I would take the pills if given the choice.

1997:
"The Food and Drug Administration, acting on new evidence about significant side-effects associated with fenfluramine and dexfenfluramine, has asked the manufacturers to voluntarily withdraw both treatments for obesity from the market. Dexfenfluramine is manufactured for Interneuron Pharmaceuticals and marketed under the name of Redux by Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, a subsidiary of American Home Products Corp. of Madison, N.J., which also manufactures and markets fenfluramine under the brand name Pondimin. Both companies have agreed to voluntarily withdraw their drugs. The FDA is not requesting the withdrawal of phentermine, the third widely used medication for obesity."

Phentermine is not "Fen-Phen." Fen-Phen has been removed from the market. Phentermine has not.

Over the years, I took phenteramine several different times. It worked fairly well for me regarding appetite control, and it made me feel WONDERFUL---not jittery at all, but much like I always suspected 'normal' people felt. (And a lot like I feel NOW!) It also seemed to make my arthritis better.
Unfortunately, it also raised my BP, and stopped working after a couple of months.
that's why it's a good idea to stop using it
