sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) effect on vitamins

Hi guys,

So sodium Bicarbonate is not a PPI which are acid reducers. My kidney Doc says it is an antacid that acts to increase the "base" in my blood to counteract the "acid". He looked at my past CO2 levels which were all uniformly low to say this might help me.

It is really a roundabout way to lower my potassium (who knew, but Google confirms). I am always a little over the high range or at the very limit of the top range.

I can only see an issue for calcium so I would take a couple of hours offset from my calcium. I wondered if anyone else has some thoughts? I'm leaning towards adding it in the morning but I could do evening after my calcium just as well.

Turns out baking soda may be good for kidneys so I don't mind adding a low dose but I don't want to mess anything else up either.

Pete
