How quickly did your PTH go down?

Hi old friends, just curious how long it takes for a high pth to come back down? Unfortunately I don't have the actual number but I know that it's high from a high alk phosphate number which is not a good sign. I started taking 150, 000 Vit D. & am wondering how soon I should retest and the fastest you've seen that number come down? Thanks

I generally only get labs done once a year so it's hard to tell, but generally when I have some type of deficiency, I'll adjust vitamins and recheck in 6 months.

More than likely, you'll have to add in 1 or 2 more doses of calcium with the Vit D. I had to take my dry Vits A,D,E,K late at night to bring my D up and my PTH down. I was taking calcium 6x/day. Brought my D up to 80+ from 34 and my PTH from high 90s to 25 or so. I'd have to go back and look.

Hi there. Congrats on getting your PTH down. I am in a similar situation. My PTH rose from 90 to 147 in a matter of 4 months. Not sure why exactly. I'm trying to get it down and wondering how to best approach it. My alkaline phos is 86 (24-110), vitamin D is 30, PTH 147, Calcium is 8.1 (low). Do you know how much d and calcium you were taking to get your numbers up and what type of calcium were you taking?

I was taking 150k of Vit D and it wasn't going up, taking it 3x/day with meals. Calcium was Sam's Members Mark Calcium Petites. They don't have them now and had to go to the horse size pills.

I would take 3-Vit D, 2-25k Vit A, E and a dose of calcium between 1-4am away from all food. I was generally up due to LTB (little tiny bladder).

Once it came up, I went back to 50k in the morning for my dry vits.
