Has anyone had their insurance pay for the DS? If so, what insurance do you have?

all insurance companies cover the DS. The problem comes when YOUR employer chooses not to buy the coverage for. Any My batiatric coverage. If your employer hasn't bought coverage for it, the insurance company won't cover itt.

I've looked at my policy and it just says Bariatric surgery 80%/20

Do you know of a way to find out IF they do cover it?

Every policy is different. Call your insurance company and ask.

When I had my DS my company was self-insured (the insurance company simply acts as the administrator of the policy). They denied the initial request for coverage but I was able to fight it. They ultimately did.

I noticed you're in Herndon. What surgeon are you looking at for the DS?

I had United Healthcare pay for my DS in 2014, and all the pre-op crap ate up my deductible so the surgery was paid for 100%

A lot of times what someone tells you on the phone is a lot different than what's in the policy. You need to get a copy of your EOC(evidence of Coverage) and read it yourself. Should be @100 pages. This is too important to just call and ask!

Thank you Patty. I have found it, but can't seem to find it under 'w', or 's' or the 'd'. Any suggestions on where else to look?

look in the exclusions section. Also try bariatric services.
