So I'm about 3 weeks before my scheduled SIPS procedure with Dr. Roslin. I just wanted to introduce myself and would love to hear some words of encouragement from people who have had this procedure and especially anyone who has had it with Dr. Roslin.

Can you tell me what SIPS procedure entail?

SIPS is a modified DS, with a single anastomosis and a longer common channel. Some doctors call it a SADI-S or loop DS.

Interesting! I have not heard of this procedure. What is the benefit over a traditional DS? I'm just curious, thanks!

By leaving a longer channel, there are supposed to be fewer issues with malnutrition, although the data is still relatively new and there is still a commitment to vitamins for life. Also, the longer channel is supposed to result in fewer bathroom troubles.

Welcome aboard! I've heard good things about Dr. Roslin. He's got a lot of experience with the regular DS and I'm guessing he has confidence in the SIPS. Long term success data pending. Whatever we can do to help and support...just ask.
