I, too, am 12 years out. My bone density is stellar and it was just last year that my iron started dipping, so I'm supplementing iron for the first time since year 1.
As a DSer, it's important to monitor your vitamin levels and tweek your regimen to suit your needs. This is much difference than VSG, where your body is absorbing and metabolizing nutrients like it always has. You need to understand your own needs and not wait for a doc to spoon feed you information, because few will take the time to compare current labs to prior labs. Never accept that you are "fine". You want to catch downward trends early so you're not fighting to bring them up. If you can do this, you don't have a need for those fears.
