Considering buying the vitamin patches to start off with after surgery. What patches do I buy that covers everything DSers need? What site do you buy from. Thank you.

Lots of people tried them, mostly from PatchMD. Unfortunately they didn't work for most. At one time there was a large FB group of users but it's disbanded now because they didn't work.

I have yet to see anyone post about good results with the patches. Great concept, but not working well.

There are posts in the general and VSG forums from the last couple of days by people who have had great success with them.

I would expect that to be absolutely correct because they have no malabsorbtion. DSers have very different needs from a VSG or even a proximal RNY person.

I'd agree if we were talking about oral supplements. But I fail to see how transdermal absorption would be different for normies, RNY, VSG, or DS.

You are right. The rate of transdermal absorbtion would be roughly the same for all. But DSers need more supplementation than most people who have had WLS because they have more malabsorbtion.

I had high hopes and used them for a year. My labs weren't as stellar as I was expecting, so it's just not worth the cost. The pills require more of a routine, but the cost is lower overall since I found myself needing 3-4 patches of different types to try to raise the levels that were dropping. Sigh...it just didn't work out.

Valerie, what is your daily vitamin schedule?

For the patches, I was taking patches in place of multi, D and Iron. My lab results showed I was short on A, D iron and calcium.

For my pill schedule now, I take 2 multi's, 2 zinc/copper, gentle iron, C, dry D (100,000 iu), dry A (50,000 iu), 3000mg of Calcium Citrate
