Stress test for Clearance

Hi- Met with my cardiologist on Friday. He said my echo was fine as was the ekg, but because I can't do 4 metas (whatever that is), I have to have a stress test. Should I be worried? I'm a 380 lb 55 year old female who hasn't exercised much in the last year and a half. I get out of breath with exertion, but not what I call short of breath. I have no pain or any other symptoms.

Thanks for any information that can help me relax a little about this.

It's just another hoop. This has been required for lots of people. It's not pleasant but it can be done.

Not to worry. It's not like marine boot camp. :)

If you do the treadmill they monitor your heart rate and breathing so they only push you to a certain level. If you get to that level sooner than someone else they throttle back so they don't overdo it. How fast you get to that level has nothing to do with passing the test.

You've got this. Just like the other post said. One more hoop before you are done.

Pete
