Still struggling

Man it has been 2.5 yrs sincr my ds and my labs still suck. I still crave carbs i still have tummy issues and im still stuck in diet mode. Luckily i havnt really gained any weight (havnt lost anymore either)..

Not sure how to fix these things .. restarting today as my new years resolution

been wondering about fat intake and vitamin absorption. If i want more calcium absorption is that affected by how much fat i eat? My labs do not change no matter what i do. All levels are on the bottom end of the scale or a few points below. EXCEPT my stupid pth which is off the charts (250).

Welcome thoughts from anyone who has had pth problems

With PTH, it won't come down unless you are getting in and absorbing enough of both calcium and Vitamin D. I had some problems with PTH, though not as bad as yours. I increased my Vitamin D, my level came up nicely, but PTH did not improve. Now that I've also increased by calcium citrate AND kept up with high amounts of D, my PTH has improved.

The reason for some of the confusion is that your blood calcium level can be normal EVEN IF you are not absorbing enough calcium. Your body needs to keep calcium levels normal to protect your heart, so it steals calcium from your bones if you don't absorb enough. It does this by raising your PTH. So, you can have normal blood test for calcium but not be absorbing nearly enough.

Are you using the "dry" D? How much? I take 2 doses of the 50,000 iu dry D daily. You may need more.

Are your taking calcium citrate and not carbonate? How much? How often? I take at least 4 doses of 500 mg calcium citrate daily. Remember that with a lot of pills, each pill is only 250 mg, so the dose needs to be 2 pills at a time and not one.

It is really important to get your PTH down to prevent osteoporosis.

Ohh i didn't think of that.  I couldn't understand how my levels could be low but in normal range abd yet my pth is still crazy.  The prh being high is what's keeping my calcium clise to normal.. that makes sense.  I take 200,000 d a day and 2000 cslcium citrate a day.

Just increased the d 3 months ago from 100,000 to 200,000 abd getting blood work done in s week or so .. eill see what happens. .

I have 2 things you can try.  Investigate D injections.  They work.  The other thing is ADDING calcium apatite to what you are already taking.  Google and research!

I have an appt with the specialust and planned on d8scussing getting d injections with him.  Dunno why he has not suggested it up to this point. . So that probably means he didn't want to do it but oh well. .

Going to Google that agitate thing you mentioned thanks

Are you taking a dry D or the prescription D?

Prescription D (the oil based version) is useless to us. The Dry D is the only thing we absorb.

As others stated, you may want to look at how much calcium you are taking and injectable D.

Do you know your D level? Is it in the normal range or dropping? or stable? I shoot for the high side of normal.

My level has been pretty steady fir over a yr. But it is low  (a pt or 2 below normal).  I went from 100k d to 150k d and now up to 200k d a day with no change in my blood work

I have heard that the shots work well. they have become popular too. In Texas you can go to a medical spa and get one!
