VSL#3 DS considered OTC as of May 6, 2016
hi peeps,
wondering who takes VSL#3DS, I have been taking it for 2 years, it is now considered OTC so my BC/BS is rejecting it based on that. What have others been doing?
I will be appealing the decision, but just curious....
Thanks

hmmm the VSL website still shows the prescription strength as prescription only. Could it potentially be the dosing? I know I just bought some and still required a script.
Yes, Sigma-tau recommends a RX for the VSL#3DS since it is 900 Billion CFU/sachet, manufacturers don't dictate what needs a RX. And no it has nothing to do with doseage, as I take 2 sachets a day. But as of May 6, 2016 anyone can purchase it OTC. My Bc/bs has been paying for my RX since August 2014, went to pick it up last week, rejected.

My insurance doesn't cover it either but I still have to have a prescription to get the packets.
