Question about those who had VSG then 2nd stage DS

Hello all!

I had a VSG in 2008 and underwent the DS procedure on 04/19/16.  I have been losing weight steadily, but it does not seem like the process is going as quickly as it did after the VSG.  I'm already starting to get discouraged.  Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?  I'm staying within the recommended carb and protein ranges and getting all of my fluids in.

Thank you!

Christy

I had the same as you: A VSG and then 6 years later a DS.  For me, the weight loss has been a relatively "normal" pace, so far.  The only thing I can think off is it would depend on how much weight you had lost previous to the DS.  Overall, the final average is 70% of your excess weight lost from your highest weight (i.e pre VSG).  Most people get about half way there within about 6 months.

Here are my stats for reference:

Sleeve to DS revision on Dec. 10, 2015.

Highest Weight: 325 (40.6 BMI)
DS Surgery Weight: 295 (36.7 BMI)
Current Weight: 239 (29.9 BMI)
Goal Weight: 180 (22.5 BMI)
6'3" tall

My weight loss has been erratic:

!st month's loss: 30, then 12, then 6, then 2, then 5 in this last month. I had a one month long stall.

I think it's much too early to panic.  You can't break the DS.  Just carry on, stay off the scale (once a month's OK) and get some exercise.

I suspect by this time next month you'll feel better.

Thank you so much for the advice!  I know they say not to compare yourself to others, but it can be so hard not to.  I'll definitely try bumping up the exercise and see if that helps :)
