When will I poop

I had surgery Monday, Feb 29th. Everything went well and I came home Wednesday. I was a sleeve to DS revision. I am getting my fluids in and working on upping protein every day. I pass gas. I am just waiting for the Poop. LOL. When I had my sleeve I had the runs for 2 weeks. So, this is surprising me. I don't feel uncomfortable, I know this is normal, but at the same time, I am anxious in anticipating the first poo.

My doc recommends miralax the first few weeks after surgery for consitpation. Today I started with 1/2 a capful to see what it does.

AGain, I am not uncomfortable, I know pain meds also affect this, I guess when  should I worry?? How much time should pass before I get concerned.

Thanks!

You're right.  It's the pain meds.

And I bet you are not eating much.  You have to eat to poop.

Congrats on your surgery and I would worry about the bathroom. It will happen. I didn't poop for about a week after surgery and it didn't make and it wasn't an issue.

I would suggest eating high fat soft foods like avacado to help the process.

I wasn't even allowed to leave the hospital until I pooped 4 days post op.

  • Drink your 64oz
  • Eat plenty of fat
  • ease off the pain meds (likely culprit)
  • Milk of Magnesia is allowed
