I think it's federal law that you can use the pharmacy without a membership. I know you can in my state but pretty sure its federal. :)

I know your surgery affects how you digest carbs but is it possible you have gluten intolerance? Just a thought as my daughter has celiac and displays similar symptoms when she eat carbs with gluten in them

I don't think so as I have problems with rice and other gluten free carbs. I wish that were it.

For many, it does improve over time.  I can eat anything I ate preop.

You can eat frequent protein snacks to combat your hypoglycemia.  Just carry jerky, cheese, and nuts.  And yes, your body does convert protein to sugar.  If you need a quick fix, try 1 hard candy like a butterscotch or cinnamon disk.  1 lifesaver works sometimes too.

Don't worry too much about your weight unless your BMI is actually low.  You are pretty much at the end of your quick weight loss and bounceback of 10% or so is just around the corner.  Most people who continue to lose at 2 and 3 years out have to work at it!

I hope it does improve. I'm not too concerned with gaining weight and it would be nice to gain a few. I've been told it can take up to 3 years for my intestines to adjust. I eat cheese, jerky, eggs, nuts etc regularly and at least a serving an hour but my sugar still gets too low. It is easier to keep it level once I get it above 75. I'll have to get some regular butterscotch, I only have sugar free right now. Thanks for the tips!

I'm 14 months out and eat 150 to 200 grams of carbs daily for 2 reasons: 1) I need them to maintain my weight as I also have no body fat left, and 2) I like the taste and their in almost all foods.

My gas has been worse recently because of it and I'm going to start taking the otc version of VSL3 probiotic to see if it helps.

Let me know if the OTC version works for you. Some food for thought that I found though, if you get a prescription for it you can get 90 of the VSL3 DS packets at Costco for about $47 plus tax. That without insurance coverage.

Ps. Glad to see i'm not alone in the low body fat yet normal BMI conundrum. I'm looking forward to the weeks the scale moves up a bit. Vacation was a set back though, you know how some people say they go on vacation and loose weight? Yeah, not me. I ate the low carb way to minimize gas (stayed with relatives) and lost 3 lbs in 12 days. Whoops!
