Gina does your insurance cover the probiotics? Just curious as I want to try them but they are so spendy!

My insurance didn't cover it so I was using my Flex Spending Account to pay for it. Now I'm on Tricare military medical and they don't carry it, so I'm back to buying it at full price unless my prescription runs out and I can't get it renewed. It's worth it to me though.

Thanks. I think i'll ask my gastroenterologist for a prescription on Monday. Maybe it will help with my gastro issues as well.

Typically I just let it go, but when I am around people who are fart intolerant or new people I take Devrom. The chewable kind. They are good, taste like banana and not the gross kind. But they are spending if you want to take them all the time. I went through a bottle over my 10 day vacation and that cost me about $18 on amazon with free prime shipping (they are cheaper on the devrom website but with shipping its more - but go to the website if purchasing more than 1 bottle as then they are cheaper). I really need to try a pro-biotic but they are expensive as well.

I also pay close attention to what causes me to become super bloated. You guessed it - carbs. Not just sugar, not just simple carbs, ALL CARBS. I turn into a bloated mess when I eat them. I can only tolerate a few grams at a time - not cool.

Anyway - best of luck

"fart intolerant"  LOL.  I've been taking a probiotic- a good one -- but havent' noticed much difference.  Sometimes the farts are in the normal range and sometimes they could kill a cow.  How many Devrom do you have to take to get a good result?  If you went through a whole bottle in 10 days that sounds like 10/day?!

They say to take 2 before every meal, well, I eat a "meal" more than three times a day. Somedays I took two at a time, then let one rip and it still smelled so I took two more to do the trick. I read that they can take a day or so to work, but I didn't have time for that. My Dr said you can't take too many so, I did what worked. I do want to point out I was also not sticking to my low carb diet as well as I should have been. I was staying with my boyfriend parents and trying to not be rude by refusing food :/

Got it.  Sounds like a good thing to do when you're meeting the Queen, but a little impractical for daily use.  Still, good to know.  Thanks!

Pretty much. I like to have a bottle around for those occasions though

What takes care of it?  Time!  It will improve!

The only thing that works is avoiding foods that trigger gas. I have been lactose intolerant since I was a kid, it only got worse after the DS, so if I do not want to have gas, I need to avoid dairy. Also anything that is super high in fat (i.e. Tuna with extra mayo), and most protein suppliments (like whey, or soy powders).

The other stuff, I've tried, never works, in fact I noticed that the probiotics make things worse. Antibiotics work, but I do not believe on staying on long term antibiotics- I think it's terrible for your body (but that is an opinion).
