4 Year Anniversary
I had my surgery October 25, 2011 which will be 4 years next week. My highest weight was 288 pounds and my weight now is 136 (and still losing but not dieting). My goal was 160 but I really wanted 140. I have past my 2 goals and I am very happy with my weight size. If anyone is worried about their age, I was 62 years old when I had my surgery. I had heard that the surgery might get rid of my diabetis, well I am happy to say it did. I have not taken any medicine for diabetis since the day before surgery. My blood pressure was always high in fact one time it was 200/110 now I can't take medicine for blood pressure because my blood pressure is always low. I used to wear a size 4x sometimes 5x now I am in a size 6 pants and medium/large top. I was so afraid of having the extra skin after weight loss, well the only place I have extra skin is the upper part of my arms, so I just wear long or 3/4 sleeve tops. I am so happy I had this surgery, I am a new person. I am 66 years old now and feel like I am 46. So many things I couldn't do when I was over weight and now I can do them. So if you are thinking of having this surgery, I highly recomend my doctor, Dr. Keshishian (818) 952-0990.
I had the duodenal switch. I had been on so many diets all my life and would loose up to 70 pounds but then gain it all back plus more. I hope this helps you if you are thinking about having surgery. I did it to get rid of diabitis and the weight lost was a plus.
