I am so sorry that I didn't respond to this sooner. I depend on getting emails telling me someone has responded and I didn't get one. I had an iron infusion this week.

Do those iron pills keep your ferritin up? I don't have a problem with my serum iron, which seemed to kind of surprise my hematologist. My thought at the moment is trying 6 proferrin a day plus gentian which is supposed to help with absorption.

If I ever start to really go down hill, I will have this reversed. My biggest concerns are my iron, albumin, and liver enzymes right now. I had a bone scan just in case and it was normal so I'm upping my calcium a little to keep things good.

I just thought I would do a little update since I find it frustrating when I am searching for answers but no one writes a follow up!

It's been just under a week since I had an iron infusion. I am also switching off of carbonyl iron to all heme because I suspect that it has caused my liver enzyme problems, the hematologist thought it was worth a shot. Some weird symptoms have cleared up for me this week. One, I had very mild edema, it's gone. I'd say 2 days ago I noticed my legs and ankles didn't feel tight. Here's a really weird one, I epilate my legs, normally after I do it they would get intensely itchy like they were covered in hives but it would only last a little while, I just thought it was normal. I did it after my iron infusion, no itching at all. Crazy stuff our bodies do! I've made a few changes so I can't be 100% sure what is working but my advice is watch your albumin, get your protein in! Also, watch your ferritin don't let it drop too low or if you get some weird symptoms, get it checked out.
