Lab result questions

Just met with my primary yesterday to look at my follow up labs.

I am still showing a couple of high levels:

Parathyroid Hormone - 66

Alkaline Phosphatase – 150

Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) 140

Intestine Isoenzyme

My Primary Care Doctor wants me to go see a gastroenterologist but before I start with lots of tests, I think I read that these items tend to be high in DS patients.

Does anyone in the group have any insight into these levels and if they are a potential problem I should be concerned about right away or watch the next round of labs?

I do not have a DS Doctor here to speak to as the Doctor Gagner, who did my surgery back in 2000, is no longer in Florida and I have not found another specialist here who does the procedure.

My primary did say that since the Liver Isoenzyme and the Bone Isoenzyme were normal, he was not sure why the overall was high as nothing points to either liver or bone.

 Thoughts?

I only watch the liver enzymes AST and ALT and they stay a little elevated.  My dietitian and I think it's due to the liver trying to process all the vitamins we take. My DS surgeon wasn't too worried when he saw them but said if I wanted to see an endocrinologist that would be fine.

Parathyroid (PTH) is a little high and usually indicates your body is pulling calcium from your bones and teeth to feed softer organs. You may need to increase your calcium citrate and vitamin D3. What you want to see on your labs for those is calcium around 9.2, vitamin D3 around 100 and PTH around 26. For PTH, lower is better than higher.

I'm right with Gina on this but I found it too hard to get my D level up that high. I'm happy to maintain in the 50 to 60 range. If the PTh stays high you might also consider adding some magnesium citrate and K2 but I would try just upping your calcium and D first.
