Since my surgery in '06 I CANNOT tolerate onions and I really miss them. Occasionally I use a small dash of onion powder, or take a teeny tiny nibble. Any more than that and ER here I come. Anyone else have a similar problem?

I know nothing about DS,  is it you can't have onions as a part of having DS or your body just wont tolerate them?  I am just now learning.

thanks

I don't think it's a by product of the DS. I think it's just me. In the last few months sugar gives me the runs.. I don't fry anymore either, same problem. I have to bake or broil all meats.

Sometimes people have unusual reactions to food after the DS but most of us don't have issues like this. A lot of times you may have some issues while you are healing but they get better after that.

I was lactose intolerant post-op (just with regular milk and powdered milk) for the first year but that seems to have gone away. Other than that, at 2+ years, I can eat pretty much anything.

Onions were such a staple in my life that I thought their after effects were just the way it is.  A bowl of delicious french onion soup opened my eyes to my problem.
