Its funny this post is here cause i was coming to investigate this.  Not cause i have lost to much weight still fairly nee (not quite a yr) but right now i appear to be on some kind of massive drop in weight. I suspect this will stop but i  was just curious 1) if this all of a sudden rapid weight loss at 9 months is common and 2) is there any sign of easy to know if you are going to be one of those ppl who have a hard time stop loosing and 3) would a dr perscribe this creon stuff if you were not like anorexic skinny but skinnier than you would like to be and lastly is there downside to creon?

I really started losing fast end of last year.  The down side to the creon its slow moving with the weight gain.  I never thought I would be upset with not gaining weigh.

I had my surgery in June of 2013. When I started out I was around 370. I was concerned at my weight being down around 165, but I hovered there a while and was put on creon about 5 months ago.

my labs were ok but not great before the creon. After they improved. I'm around 175-180 currently and just stopped taking creon as my goal was to get back to 180.

i would say follow the Drs lead. Most people don't get all the way down to a normal BMI. They waited until my BMI was nearly 22.0 before interfering.

I don't have this problem but from what I've read the Creon should help a lot. TPN if things get reallly challenging.  Good luck, sounds scary.

I was just wondering - you are pretty far out. Did you maintain for a while and then start losing
or has it just been a slow gradual process over the 4+ years?

I stayed at 165 for over a year  than within month was losing a lot.

I think Lori was doing 5-6 shakes a day along with eating her protein.  It didn't look like you were eating enough.  I know I eat 5-6 mini meals plus extra snacks all day.

Yes if we can only switch diets we would both be in good shape, your regimen is no longer necessary, but discipline is, you just have to find your balance.  I wish I was more of a discipline person.

I was put on creon six months out, because I wasn't absorbing enough nutrients, and I was staunchly opposed to a revision.  My surgeon and I decided that I would make up for it by continuing protein shakes and Creon to *slow* the weight loss, not stop it.  I absorbed more nutrients but the weight loss continued.  I can just barely see my ribcage through my chest at six years out, and I'mhappy to have lost from my highest weight of 405 in 2009 (397 on surgery day) to my current weight of 166 which is now stable.  It takes a lot of work to keep it that way, because my DS acts like  a runaway freight train sometimes.  Not as much as when I was first out, but it will kick in from time to time, as if it were new.  My PCP, who was totally on board with the DS for me, set weight loss limit for me down to 160. I can feel the bones in my butt when I sit ( that was a new thing for me!). Creon did *not* make me gain weight, but it did slow it down a little, even though I lost my first 200 pounds in my first year.

So you did not gain weight on the Creon?  My doctor said I would gain weight but I have not I'm still losing I'm down to 114 as of today.  And I hear you with the butt bones it hurts for me to sit even on a sofa.  I look sick people say.
