So i just spent 2 months having serious bathroom issues. Trying to figure out what i was eating.  Finally talked to dr explained my problem and wad perscribed a week of flagyl.. seemed to help.. but now its over and despite taking a probiotic i feel like it is coming back again.  I was told getting more fiber might help but now in told it won't. . Soo looking for help on what i should do. should i  get a stool test to find the exact cause or change probiotic or increase from 1 tablet to2..

Tks

I have to use prescription strength probiotics. I use VSL#3 by prescription. It's about 300 billion bugs per 1/2 teaspoon and I use 2 - 1/2 teaspoons a day. One in the mid-morning and 1 at mid-day.

Will a dr perscribe it without a stool sample? If i went to my pcp and said my surgeon gave me flagyl and it helped but overt the counter probiotics don't would she give me a script?

I had to fight with one doc for the script but when I saw the other doc in the same practice he didn't see the issue the other doc had. I guess he just had more experience or something. Be ready to negotiate and fight. I agreed to report back through the support group on how it worked for me.

I agree with majormom, I use VLS#3DS it is a RX, just like anything else you will have to try different amounts as to what works best for you.  be careful with flagyl and over-use of it.

If you have a specific question for me, PM me or I will not see it, as I don't check responses on the forums and don't have anything forwarded to my email.

Not really loose but definatly very requent and very different. . Like all spotted with different colors. . Some kind of white rubbery like substance in them.  Always felt like i had to go even after just going. .

But it could be the increase in my fiber putting my carn count too high for my body. I seem to be very carb sensitive since ds

If you don't take a probiotic, you should at least eat some probiotic food to repopulate the flora.  Yogurt, kefir, and fermented foods like sauerkraut have natural probiotics.

Question - I see you had surgery with Dr Roslin in July 14, and I did also in Nov 14. Since he's a DS expert, I went to him for the DS and he recommended a SADi as best option, which I'm very happy with. Did he also suggest a SADi for you, or since you had a revision surgery, was there a benefit to performing the standard DS procedure.
