GAS / BLOATING- SO FRUSTRATED!!!

Hello all!!!

I am 5 years out, training for my first bodybuilding competition and therefore am very in tune with what is going on with my body.  EVERY. DAY I have been having gas/bloated feeling all day and I can't seem to get rid of it

I was taking a probiotic and that didn't help

Tried taking a digestive enzyme and that seems to help a little bit

Took gas x and that did nothing

My diet has been simplified to chicken, spinach/green beans and olive oil just so I can try to pin point this nonsense.  I have cut out ALL vitamins/supplements as well thinking that it might be one of those and I'm STILL getting it!

I only drink water

Any feedback or suggestions would be SO much appreciated!  I'm so frustrated with myself that I can't figure out how to help my own body.

Thank you so much in advance for your help

When my body got that out of whack it took a round of flagyl to sort it out. Then probiotics worked. Just my experience.

If you have a bad build up of bad bacteria, a round or two of Flagyl will clear that up.  Then follow with a probiotic.  I could be the spinach causing your problems.  Try eating only meat and see if that helps.  Flagyl cleared up 95% of my gas when I was 4 mo out.  I still continue to take it when needed.  When you get gas for no reason (bad foods).  You have to kill off the bad bacteria, then yogurt or probiotics to repopulate your gut.  My body creates more gas with the probiotics.

If your PCP has a problem writing a script for Flagyl, you can get Fish Zole, same stuff but I get $100 for the price of 20 from my PCP.

Thank you both SO much!!! I wanted to avoid going to the PCP but it sounds like it is something I should do!  I will talk to her about Flagyl.  Have either of you had any success with beano?

I have better luck with Gas-X strips or the chewables.  My guts get very angry with gluten, milk and several veggies - onions being the worst for me, broccoli and cauliflower close behind.  Hard bloated stomach (think 6mo preggo) and then the gas to go with it.  Takes between 3-6 hours to totally pass out my system.  I'll take 1 Flagyl for about 3 days and I'm good for 3-4 weeks.

Any whey protein in there? Whey blows me up like a balloon.

Hey Valerie!!  Nope I don't do protein shakes, I eat all of my protein and literally cut my diet down to chicken, green beans/spinach and olive oil to try to pin point what the problem might be.

Do you think maybe digestive enzymes might be something to look into for a few months until I get on stage?

I would be looking to your gut next, then.  Go for some antibiotics to kill it all off, then re-populate with new flora (probiotics).

I was using Fishzole instead of going for a prescription of Flagyl. I ordered it online from a vet supply company. Let me know if you want more info. It's 250mg of Metronidazole just like Flagyl.

THANK YOU SO MUCH GINA!!!!

What is your take on a digestive enzyme?  Especially when my diet is so limited for the next few months for the competition or do you think that that might be too risky?  I'm doing 1 hour of cardio on the stairmill every day and 2 hours of lifting 6 days a week but I really don't want to risk gaining weight but absorbing more of the fuel might do some good?  Id love to know your opinion!

thank you again gina!!!
