Can anyone give me some suggestions for a great DS surgeon in Ohio, Ky, West Va...anywhere for the best one?  I have been sleeved and regained the weight. I've looked at ds facts, etc, just wanted to hear from anyone regarding their own surgeon.  Also, I am aware that at the Cleveland Clinic the patient pays the difference between cost and what their personal ins pays- does anyone know of a surgeon who accepts the insurance only?  Any recommendations will be so greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance

The one in Ohio retired.

Not one in KY

Not one in W.Va.

However, there are two in East TN and one in NC, one in MI, the one in GA is moving to FL so he isn't taking on new patients in GA.

Even if a surgeon is listed as doing the DS...make sure they really do the DS and not the SIPS or SADI-S or whatever they are calling it today. Find out how many they have done and who they proctored under.

Check with Dr. Donovan Teel in Dayton, OH.

One thing I can say about him is that you need to be on your A-game on how you plan to maintain nutritional health with the DS.  He's had several patients go deficient, so he seems to reserve the DS for strong personalities anymore that aren't easily intimidated (and he may just be the one to intimidate).  Being prepared is key to talking him into it. I know of a couple of potential patients go away in tears after a consult, but many who had it are very pleased with him.

Another close by option is in Indianapolis.  Dr. Margaret Inman.  She has many fans.

I had mine with Dr. Phillip Schauer out of the Cleve. Clinic. As far as I know he is the only one there that does the DS and it is a decision he works out with each patient so he doesn't do a lot of them. I never heard that stuff about the cost and the insurance payment. I was self pay on the DS but I have had a lot of other stuff done at the Clinic and never ran into that.

Hi!

I had my DS surgery in Dayton, OH by Dr. Donavon Teel II at miami valley hospital... and I would recommend him. He is tough (as in you have to KNOW you want the DS, and be prepared to say WHY you want it... but for me, I liked that), but was excellent.
