Thanks Star,

I've had drains before, with a previous tummy tuck.

No problem there.

i'm most concerened about the aftermath of having my small intestines re-routed.

DS on 11/14/14

I am in DFW as well.  I met with all the local docs.  As a self pay, all except Aayoola tried to discourage me for a full DS instead recommending a 2 step procedure.  Except for Aayoola, none seemed comfortable with the DS in general.  If you're going to stay local,  I would stick with him.  There was a recent horror story about Kim's partner.  Let's just say she did get a patient to loose 50% of their weight in 3 hours - after complications (knicked artery?) resulted in a double full leg amputation.

I went with Ungson in Mexico as well and have nothing but 100% good things to say about my experience.  I had a hysterectomy 4 weeks later at a very prestigious hospital in Southlake and hands down Mexico was a better experience all around in terms of comfort and care.  It was that good.

I too was ready to leave earlier than they let me but considering the plane trip aspect I think it was best...

My insurance sucks.  I've decided after comparing costs I will fly to Yuma twice this next year for my follow ups and drive the 60 miles to mexicali.  It will still a save me a few grand.  Yuma is technically a lot closer but not a major airport so they do all their trips into San Diego.

The only caveat about Ungson is he seems to now prefer the loop DS or Sadi-S...  but he will do the full DS if you want.  Myself I had the SADI.  I flip and float all the time if I made the right decision.   Going back I might still choose it but it's tough with so little info and support.  For instance I have no idea what my fat malabsorbtion will end up being let alone malnutrition risks...

Currently I'm frustrated with my weight loss. I am 6 weeks out and including preoperative loss I'm right around 60 lbs but it seems like I will have major stalls every 3 weeks and that's frustrating.   Since surgery it's only been 40 lbs and I think that sucks for as little as I eat.  I guess the hysterectomy did me no favors but I was at risk for cancer (biopsies came back neg :o)) so I felt like I had no choice.

Edit: I don't know why my trackers broken but I am at 294 today.  59 down from highest weight.

Same here VSG in 2010 lost 50 gained back 20 and I worked at it....revised to DS on 10-14 also as a note my doctor scoped me and found my sleeve very large and not done properly so I was re-sleeved as well.  Forward 3 months I am down 52 lbs learning how/what to eat to fulfill protein requirements, taking my vites and feel great about my choice
