thank you for your reply.  I think I understand what you are saying, it is not usual to take as many pills as you do and you are an exception due to the issues before the ds and it just makes it more difficult.  Even with everything it sounds like ds is for you also and yes I understand I am on a ds forum, but the more I research the better I feel about it.  I am going to make an appointment with my dr and see if he can send me to a ds surgeon on the dsfacts and take it from there.  thank you everyone

I have SADI and I only take 2 pills and a chewable calcium that tastes like candy.

That's interesting because many of the SADI patients are told to start with a DS regimen.  I hope you and your surgeon have a schedule for labwork so you can watch your labs closely.  A RNY doesn't have nearly as much bypassed and takes more than you're taking.

Your right! I had the SADI and I was originally told to start off with chewable vitamins. I still take three chewable multivitamins, three high ADEK, iron,  three calcium citrate, b12 and B1. The only reason why I'm still taking chewable  is because I bought more chewable vitamins then I expected because I originally bought vita lady and the pills didn't agree with my stomach six weeks after surgery.

No lab work yet that's my 3 month visit but my docs recommendations only include a multivitamin with ADEK supplements, calcium, and b-12, although they do recommend extra iron if it's low or if we have regular menstrual cycles.  It's actually very similar to their recommended gastric bypass vitamins except it's a different multivitamin and we are required to take a little more calcium. Guess the determination of whether this is a sufficient regimen will be in the lab results.

First, I think you should do you own research about what supplements your body needs post-op.  Certainly I am positive that you need more than you are taking.  And the candy tasting chewable calcium is probably candy.  Look at the nutritional label.  Here is one of the popular drug store brands - note the 35calories, 9 carbs, and 7 sugars.   Supplement Facts Serving Size: 2 Gummys Servings Per Container: 50 Amount per Serving Calories Total 35 Amount per Serving % Daily Value+ Sodium 22 mg 1 Total Carbohydrate 9 g 3 Sugars 7 g % Daily Value Vitamin D Vitamin D3 800 IU Calcium 500 mg 50 * Daily Value not established. + Percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. Your daily values may be higher or lower depending on your calorie needs.

Also I have been following your journey before SADI. If I were you, before too much time passes I would get to the bottom of why you are losing weight so slowly and little this early out and from the beginning. If it is due to some slip up like candy tasting supplements or not counting substantial things as part of your caloric intake then you have control over it and can change it.  Sorry to go on.  I am concerned about you and want to see you have as much success as possible.  I am certain you have been ill advised if you got the idea of just 3 pills - what pills anyway???  Even I, as a VSG take more.

Best,

Layla

Hi Layla

The 3 things I take are 1 bariatric advantage multivitamin that contains vitamins ADEK and iron, 1 sublingual b-12 pill, and a sugar free (I checked the label before I bought it) chewable calcium. I think they are all Bariatric advantage.  I desperately want to know why my weight loss is not as fast as other people's.  I asked the surgeon and was told its due to it being a revision. This seems to be true for many revisees but another person I know who got revised from the band to the SADI a few weeks ago has already lost more in 2-3 weeks than I have in 8 weeks.  Don't know what else I can do to find out why I'm not losing faster. I was told to eat more to lose more.  That's a struggle for me. So maybe it's me? I'm trying my best to fulfill the rules. Wondering what vitamins you take for the sleeve. My surgeon's vitamin guidelines for the sleeve are almost the same as for SADI but SADI needs the ADEK multivitamin and sleeve doesn't and SADI needs about 600mg more calcium.  Haven't had lab work yet (that's my 3 month visit) to see if the recommended amounts are sufficient.
