SADI-S, SIPS etc VS traditional DS - why docs are saying Yes!
I was informed by several people that usually yhe CC in a SADI is 250/300. Mine is 150.
I hope you realize SADI has no cchannel. It only has an alimentary limb. this will prove important PO 2+ years manintenance for fat malabsorption
the last 5+ yrs Roslin made his DSs at 125-150cchannel and about 150-200 alimentary limb. (before that he was making the cchannel shorter)
Hi. Good morning! I had the SADI on 12/3/13. I believe I have either a 36/38 French bougie and the CC is 150. My surgeon, Dr Roslin suggested this surgery because I wasn't a diabetic. My A1C level started to creep up but my sugar levels were normal. Dr Roslin felt that he would only recommend the DS for someone who is a severe diabetic. I had really bad HBP and cholesterol which are booth resolved. HW 268 and I am 116, now! I feel great! Enjoy your day!!!
congrats on your weight loss and resolution of comorbs.
if Roslin actually said this, it is inappropriate, and incorrect and there is nothing in peer reveiwed journals to support that statement. To say that an established, durable DS, WLS is only recommened for a severe diabetic is not based in competent medical evidence, quite the contrary, futhermore Roslin actually didnt like that some insurance companies had a BMI requirement of 50 for the DS, which he would intensly appeal and win. While the SADI has good short term results, long term data is still waiting to be gathered. the first 2 years after any intestinal bypass surgery is not indicative of long term outcome, the test is post intestinal adaptation which is beyond 1.5 to 2 years PO. while I understand why Roslin is pushing the SADI-less complications, easier to perform, etc,it is NOT a DS nor like a DS. Biochemically, I think it will replace RNY and that is a good thing, not DS.
I'm going back and forth on this ds sadi thing. I have pros and cons to both. My dr uses 300, and I think 250 is the shortest. so there is a lot to think about, I wish there was more data out on the sadi, but that will be a few more years, not sure if i want to wait that long. still trying to decide
I'm doing great. Hubby and I both caught nasty colds our last day in Mexico....so I've been battling that.
They did end up doing a re-sleeve which I'm so glad about! Come to find out, the surgeon who did my original sleeve didn't touch the bottom part of my stomach and it was quite large. So I definitely have tons of restriction at the moment.
Managing to get in a decent amount of fluid and a minimum of 40g of protein. Still on full liquids so my choices are limited. I can't wait to be able to EAT protein.
Hows it going for you? Did you ever talk to him?
wow how nice to have your hubby with you, a vacation of sort? hahah only another wls patient would say that when you are getting surgery. that is great that he did a resleeve and what is it with these surgeons making crappy sleeves, geesh. so that is good you have restriction again, it will get better when the swelling goes down, just try to drink as many protein shakes as you can and drink drink drink not to get dehyrated, I bet you cant wait to eat again. I am going pretty good, was in Ireland for 3 weeks, and I have not talked to him but hopefully this weekend. What did you think of the whole experience, better, worse than you thought? rest up and drink up
