Loving my SADI-S loop DS

Happy to hear you're doing well. Don't be put off by any negativity. They aren't really "haters"
mostly just more comfortable with what they know.

Anyway,  I think it's great you were able to
leave the hospital off the diabetes meds. That's how the standard DS worked for me and it made the
healing that much easier to deal with

Keep us up-to-date. I'm kind of fascinated to see what is the same and what the differences end up being.

congratulations Miranda, especially for the diabetes.  I am one that is not a one surgery type is best for everyone.  2 weeks is really no indication of how well a surgery will do, the first 2 years really are not.  the true test is following intestinal adaptation, that is the test for a malabsorptive (and restrictive as with sadi and DS) procedure.  It would benefit everyone to have only a Single anastomosis, with two anastomosis there is potentially double the trouble.  the outcome of SADI will not be known for a few years, but that is no differenet thatn VSG as a stand alone or lap band in the usa in 2001 when it received FDA approval.  please stick around and post, and continued success, personally I have a DS but if the durabilityof the SADI is close to the ds , much easier to perform, less chances of anastomosis issues, etc, that would be great for the next generation.

Airbender,  I just want to say I've been reading some of your posts lately and I just want to thank you for your positive and helpful nature.  It really does help newbies like myself to have peeps like you around.

Miranda,

Great job!! I am excited about my surgery 35 hours from now. Yes, there are some Loop DS people who have a valid point of the tried and true, My thoughts are people questioned the auto instead of the horse and buggy. Results are all positive so my feelings are close the hatch and full speed ahead.

Hi Miranda,

Today is my first full day home from the hospital. Everything went very well. I am grateful there was very little pain. Low and behold when Dr Metz went to remove the band it had failed as it had cracks in it so it was never retaining fluid. That is past now on to the future.

I have no hunger pains and have to strictly make myself follow my plain of fluid and protein intake.

I am looking forward to my weight loss.

I'm so glad to hear you are doing OK. Just sip sip sip! The 2 weeks after surgery were the hardest for me mentally. I'm on to pureed and soft foods. I never thought a scrambled egg could taste so good. You will do just fine. Please keep me posted on your progress. Take it easy and stay ahead of the pain with your medicine. Hope to hear from you soon.

Yes, I have a 1 ounce shot glass next to me today and listing my intake. So far since 8 am I have had 8 ounces of water and 5.5 grams of protein in the 5 hours but it is hard because I am not hungry any thoughts.
