CARBS - oh my!

I do think it is too early for pasta. It's hard to avoid some carbs. Were there any meatballs or meat sauce with the pasta?
Meatballs or sausage can be your best friend in those instances. Just pick around the pasta. I think the pasta, like rice,
will also expand a little in your stomach which is bad most of the time but especially eraly out.

A lot of people will take a couple of crackers or something like that to settle their stomach, especially when they start
taking iron. Not the best thing for absorption but a couple of crackers isn't really a problem.

It's been my experience that carbs always go down a lot easier. A lot of people that have trouble eating post-op turn
to mashed potatoes for a while until they heal up some more.

Pete the one pasta dish did have a meat sauce but it was gone before we reached it! I think I just need to change my thinking for several more month (6) at least. I'm ok eating proteins....just need to be more prepared. Should have packed a little cooler....no one knows I've had this......so I guess I hope they buy....I'm,just eating healthier ha ha!! Thanks for the help all....I'll regroup and get this !! :)

Eating at events where you have no control over the menu can be the worst. The best I can say is
that if you have to have something just do very small quantities. For me, the less I have of stuff that
might give me gas the longer it takes to happen. SOmetimes not at all if I can chase it a little later with
some protein. My stomach can be a myster sometimes.

For me, the pasta effects are way worse than bread.

For work meetings, I started talking to the admin that ordered the food and explained that heavy foods like pasta make peoples' heads fuzzy for the afternoon portion of the meeting (carb overload) and they would be more productive with a lunch more focused on protein.  When you know you'll be doing lunches, see if you can find out ahead of time what's coming, so you'll have a substitute on hand.  Perhaps some cheese to nibble on instead of pasta and enjoy the accompanying salad with your colleagues.

For lightening the load, I found that a couple of grapes or chunks of pineapple are soothing if my stomach feels heavy...and don't give the gas later.
