Any regrets?
Use that worry about malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies to keep you on the straight and narrow post-op.
Those things can happen but are usually patient issues. Sometimes there can be surgical issues that cause
problems but if everything goes OK than you are fine if you pay attention to your labs and track your protein
and vitamins.
The DS isn't a cure-all but it will be a big help towards getting you ready for a hip replacement. I was 464 right after
surgery and 237 19 months later. I went in to the surgery with a diabetic ulcer on my foot that kept me from exercising
and was still able to lose the weight. The ulcer finally healed, not completely due to the weight loss but it was a big factor.
I think the DS is your best option but whatever you choose - good luck. I hope it gets you to the point you can get the hip
replaced and get out of the chair.
I spent enough time in one the last couple of years and was open to any idea that
held out the hope I might not need it to go anywhere.
