Any regrets?
Because i had advanced tummy tuck with walls tightened in 11/2006. I was told by Surgeon that removed my band i had a 60%- 70% chance of a major complication, most likely ending with a feeding tube for life That was Sept 2013..Scared me out of it.This Dr has done every test under the sun and does not understand why i was told that.Other 2 Clinics turned me down solely based on operative report of the lap Band removal Surgeon. Most all my regain has came to Lower body everything from waist down....sad to see my thighs bigger then my waist was

there seems to be some communications issue here. Sounds like you had an abdominoplasty, that is when they sew your separated stomach muscles back and it is like an internal corset, actual restores you to normalcy. What happens with the DS is they fill your abdomen with gas in order to manuver around in there, with an abdominoplasty it can be very difficult to do the swtich part of the DS, because the surgeon has to measure your intestines to measure properly, possibly converting you to open. whoever told you that you would have a 60-70% chance of major complication ending in a feeding tube because of the abdominoplasty and removing the band is just ridiculousness. You do have to tell your surgeon that you did have an abdominoplasty, and tha tis always a question other surgeries you had. Well weight gain below the waist is a bariatric surgeon's dream, but I know how you feel.

I just had the DS procedure Monday, and I'm now 6 days post OP (down 10 lbs). I came home from the hospital after 2 days, and have been out and about since day 3 including a trip to Philly from NY (I let my son drive). It's a serious procedure but I think the best DS Surgeons (limited # of them) have perfected the surgery to minimize pain and issues. I'm not quite a week out and I'm already eating soft foods, moist seafood and chicken soup without any issue. I have not had any nausea or bad smelling gas / stools yet (fingers crossed).
My surgeon said he has modified the procedure to be a less is more approach, and it has worked very well for me so far.
Good luck with your decision.

I had the single loop DS, but I don't know how long my channel is. It's a great question that I will ask Dr. Roslin in my post op visit later this week. I can honestly say I feel much better than I expected 8 days out. I can do pretty much anything except strenuous exercise.

Yes, you are correct, the single loop DS. My expectation was that I would lose less quickly but still achieve the results over time without all the negatives that normally go along with the traditional DS procedure. So far I'm down about 11 to 12lbs 8 days out. I feel really good, in most ways better than pre-op since I've been losing weight and eating healthier.
Honestly, you are going to be taking pills the rest of your life one way or the other. Better they be vitamins rather than advil.
Saying you are afraid of malnutriency make sense, but on a practical level you are saying you are afraid to take a few pills. You could live another 50 years. Don't limit the second half of your life because you are afraid of a few pills.
August 2014 - DS @ Mexicali Bariatric Center / Ungson.
It took me one and a half years to lose 165 pounds.
