I am planning on getting a revision from RNY to DS and wanted to know what the daily vitamins you all take. As an RNY, I have been taking a lot of pills and wanted to know if it is the same for the DS? Can you tell me what you take daily and the amounts? TIA

Vitalady has a great list to get started with or at least compare with what you are already taking, then let your bloodwork be your guide.  Already being in good habits will make things much easier, too.

Can you tell me a bit about what your experience has been like while deciding to have this revision and did you find a Dr near you or are you going to have to travel?  I am considering this same procedure, but can't find any local surgeon and will have to travel.  Thanks

Hi Andie,

I am going to have to travel about 4 hours away, my surgeon is Dr. Stephen Boyce in Knoxville, TN.

No date yet, I go on Thursday for my first consult.  He is very experienced and here is his link:

Another surgeon you might want to check is Dr. Kemmeter in MI.  Here is his link:

I was so motivated after getting your reply that I called the office in TN and the patient advocate is supposed to call me back and give me all the ins and outs since I will be traveling....after speaking with them I called my insurance and they told me that I do have coverage for subsequent weight loss surgeries, which makes me happy....,one problem I am facing is that the Dr moved and the hospital even closed where I had my 1st surgery and when I called I was told that the records are not available....so I will have to figure that out...but I am feeling a bit more hopeful after making these calls, guess the main thing I was happy to hear is that they do the revision laproscopically, not wide open...that was a fear of mine...I had a hysterectomy that had to be done open and it took me 7 months to heal due to all the sagging skin and such...thanks for the info

My understanding is generally more vitamins for the DS than RnY. You have to pay more attention
to vitamins A,D, and K because of the switch and be sure and take them in "dry" form - no gel-caps.

I take 25k Vitamin A - Biotech from vitalady
100k Vitamin D (2 50k capsules) from Biotech via amazon.  I started at about 20K and move first to 50k
and then to 100K.
1000mcg vitamin K from pretty much anywhere via amazon.

2 multis - centrum or kirkland
500mcg sub lingual b12
Iron and vit C
between 1500 and 2000 mg calcium citrate
Magnesium oxide and magnesium glycinate
Vitamin K2 - not required -  Iust thought it was a good idea after listening to people and doing
some research.
OTC potassium every other day - only because I was a little low going in to surgery so I wanted to be pro-active.
Probiotic
ZInc - 60mg (mcg??) I can never remember if it is mcg or mg. Started 1 year after surgery.

I think thats it. If I forgot something probably not that important to me.

Good luck....

Pete
