Fistula is fixed - I hope

After a couple of abscesses left me with an anal fistula (kind of a tube that drains from the inside out and won't
heal on its' own) I had surgery Thursday to get it to heal completely.

Everything went well. I was only in the OR for an hour and home about 3 hours after that. Now to keep the area clean and healing
for the next 3-4 weeks.  Luckily it was small and in a place that made the operation not very risky. I had a great GI surgeon
from the Cleveland Clinic - Dr. Ian Lavery.

The area gets irritated with BM's but Sitz baths help and I got a new shower attachment that helps me keep the area clean.
I'm just hoping this is the last leg of this part of my journey. I just hit 18 months and need to concentrate to get as far as I can in the next 6 months.  Given the irritation it is a great motivator to eat a clean DS lifestyle..

I'm glad you got that taken care of Pete. It's can be a real pain in the rear no pun intended to heal. Make sure you get all your nutrition and keep it clean as possible.keep up the good work!
